lol, well why not! It's my retro baby!
Some of u that know me from other Forums know I spend a lot of time and money on my go-peds! I only deal with genuine Calafornian ones, not those cheap £100 off the market jobbies!
So anyway, The company started in 1985 with prototypes, First production scooters were built in the Patmont family garage and sold in 1986 called the "go-ped roadster" 50 of one style... then another 63 in another style. I got this one from an Autojumble a couple of years back somewhere in Kent IIRC. Guy wanted £100, had to borrow the money off a mate at the time i didnt plan on spending much that day! Anyway, This one turns out to be one of the first 50 as confirmed by Steve Patmont Company CEO. Only one of three know in existance. One is in the Go-ped Museum in CA. Mine, and my mate owns the other, However his was in such a bad way he had to fully restore his. Mine is as was back in 1986, Exept i've had to replace a few items... WITH the correct parts (which were a SOD to find) anyway.....
The Clean up!
it JUST ABOUT still rides, But i don't want to start fiddling too much seeing as how it never gets riden now:
We even managed (with permision from Patmont Motor Werks) to get the sticker for the front re-produced after my friends came with the sticker still on, so we knew what it SHOULD look like.... as no one knew, even Steve Patmont couldnt remember!
Had to get pics of leavers and rear axel bolt measured up and re-produced for my friends restoration as his came with a modern quickrelease style bolt...
Mine had wrong grips and his were tatty but as he still had the origional ones. We were able to find new ones exactly the same from a 1980's BMX parts suplier in America! (no pics yet sadly as not fitted)
Thats about it! No one can really place a value on it, But i know A LOT of American enthusiasts are prepared to pay good $ to get it back on American Soil! Can do a thread with all my other go-peds and their mods if anyone would be interested ;D
Thanks for looking, pls don't flame
