+ something like this: cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=10534&item=7983777454&rd=1And the disc brakes from a MKII Golf GTi............ A MKII (?) Polo weighs 920kg - Engine = 620kg + bike engine = 720kg + MKII discs etc = 750kg - most of interior = 720kg poss replace all galss with perspex = 690kg bike engine puts out 150 (ish) bhp bhp per tonne = 220 (ish) .............interesting.........maybe I should look in to R1 or hyabusa engines - or possible two of above and 4x4

The GS1000 puts out about 110bhp. For 150bhp you're either looking at tuning or hayabusa/zx12/R1/blackbird big money engines. A well tuned GSXR1100 engine with 170bhp can be built for £600 which is about a third of what a standard hayabuse engine can cost. I know a few people who have GSXR1100 engines that they don't know whether to use in a Locost. Another option would be CBR1000 power, which is pretty similar to the GSXR1100, being direct competitors in their days.

Nobody yet has managed to get two bike engines to syncronise together to make a decent drivable car. Z-Cars are well on their way though.

As coupe's / hatches aren't very avaiable - how about bike engine in the back of a Polo C / CL.......? What do you do with the drive connection between engine and shafts? If I was going to put engine in front and keep it front wheel drive, how would I get it to power both front wheels? I understand now why people make most bike powered cars rear wheel drive!

That sounds like a good idea. Talk to Chris at Z-cars, as they are now putting bike engines in the back of Saxos and Pug 106s which arent much bigger.
If keeping it FWD, I would get a mini diff with a sprocket on and some custom driveshafts. If you could have a look at a Polo diff you could also see if that could have a sprocket bolted to it.

I've found this. It lookes like a good size for a bike engine. I guess the diff and gearbox are offset to the left (looking from the rear), which makes it better for a bike engine installation. Adam
