Thats so awful its got to be bought. that was my thought. I've never owned one, and I am drawn to dreadful cars. How bad can it be? Only one way to find out.

What happened to your maz 626? That went to Boycie. Although the DVLA don't appear to have furnished him with a V5C for it yet.

If it had an MOT then yeah, why not. But do you really want another broken US shed on your driveway? You know it will end up being a pain in the butt to sort out... The advert makes it sound like there's nothing wrong so why not give it an MOT?

Follow your dreams or you might as well be a vegetable.

and by the time its here, broken on my drive the cost would be equal to that Buick I didn't buy which was local and had an MOT. Albeit a short one. Still, its tempting!

Crumbs,
I think you should get another old tin box like the Maz for your winter wheelz. That car looks like a cast-iron Akku tragedy-in-waiting if you ask me!
What about that blue Volvo 240 thats in the FS bit? That'd make a great winter chugger, nice warm heater and everything.

Agreed. Choice 1: Unknown seller with unknown car with no MOT Choice 2: Known seller with known car with MOT

Current vehicle collection: 2006 Saab 9-3 Aero convertible - in mid-life crisis yellow No new retro as yet ... all attempts to sneak one onto the drive have failed.

That car looks like a cast-iron Akku tragedy-in-waiting if you ask me! seconded, bolleaux speaks the truth, always. put buying thoughts down, and step away from the oldsmobile. have a poke around theres bound to be something for similar money with T + T that will get you through the bad weather. you already have enough cool yanks sat on your drive, leave that one be. my 3ÂŁ 27s 4d.

TBH, I just don't 'get' the appeal of these later Yank rides. Sure the 50's & 60's land yachts & muscle cars are 110% oof, but all the later stuff is soggy, underpowered, ill-handling grot which seems to carry a price premium purely due to the legacy of their forebears. Look at all the cool non-US stuff of the same age that could be had for the same ÂŁ. You could get a prefectly respectable european motor that would be 'retro-cool' without the associated arseache. Having a yank for the sake of it just doesn't add up in my book.

sorry akku, that looks pez, even wolfies wouldnt sort that out. just get a battered old astra or summat for winter and fix up one of your undeniably cool yanks you already have, in fact i might just have a deisal astra at the right price if you want it. ;D ;D

TBH, I just don't 'get' the appeal of these later Yank rides. Yea I'd have to agree - after all, the majority of them are 20 year old saloons with no particularly redeeming features, average (if that) interior & exterior, dire ride and handling, uninspiring powertrains - and, at worst, quite ugly! In no way saying there isn't great, inspiring or interesting ones out there but this one - Not worth the folding, methinks! Plus there's the grief with getting bits for it at short notice, if something does go 'twang' over winter (and that won't be young lady's undergarments in that!) then it'll just become a PITA. Especially if the heater goes!

LOLZERZ you crude dude.
Pog: 'cos its rubbish? comfy, rolly-polly and pretty ugly is all good. Big Mercs and Citroen CX are similarly squashy, but generally more expensive for something runnable.
Big J barges are the closest altenative. Nissan QX or a 300C.

What about a smaller 190E or an XJ6? I guess that's a bit uninspired, mind. LS400? Jeep Cherokee! Ultimate winter warrior!

Yes you are. Buy it, what could possibly go wrong? Have you finished with my drill yet?

No more old cars

I think this thread should go down in history purely for perhaps being the only example of "Should I buy it?" "No, you'd be mad!"
Must agree though. Any old curse word will do for the winter. Unknown, undesirable US-tin doesn't seem to be the answer.
