Definitely prefer it in the black.
I love reading these threads. There's just so much more depth than you get from reading build stories in magazines.

xXxIt is a Fury, 1958 Plymouth Fury The purple paint was some make (can't remember) BUT it was cellulose, 'reduced violet', mixed 50/50 with thinners then 15% matting agent thrown in. Thats all I can give you really, sorry!

Dayumm! To be honest, when you first said you were painting it black I did think it'd end up like any other "I can't be ar$ed, just satin black it" lazy sprayjob, but you've obviously put a lot of thought into getting the right paint and the right look. Looks absolutely spot on! Nice work dude.

Thanks Benzboy. You're right, along with the many threads on paint I started, I had spent a lot of time piecing together the ideas to make the theme 'flow'. I tried to tie in the blacked-out grillework with the black steels with the black bodywork, all of which have some element of chrome to set off against it... then down to the black & white plates tying with the whitebands. I have, this weekend, had a monumental idea for the interior that's gonna be hard-as-nails yet really quite uncomfortable so watch this space

I did like it in purple and I thought that black would be boring, but you proved that I was wrong. It looks classy now.

Thought I'd do a nice simple mod today: Converting my front combi-lamps to completely clear lenses. Its real easy on the Cedrics to do this as the only thing that makes the indicator half yellow is a plastic insert placed behind the front lense. All you gotta do is whip it out, replace the bulbs with orange ones and refit together. The only issues I had were a) the yellow bulbs had a slightly offset pin setup on them so I had to file one off from each bulb to get them to fit and b) one of the bulbs was completely rusted into its socket cue a load of duckoil, WD40 and some cursing and it released itself. Anyways, pictures. Before: After: Lit: Easy-peasy! Looks a lot cleaner for it. £2.99 and 5 minute mod ;D
