this will only be of interest to the proper mountain bikers who may remember these but i thought it was worth a post. has anyone ever even seen any of these in the flesh? don't think i have until now. they were far too expensive back in the day and only turned up on the front of world cup bikes. anyway, i was looking for a set of 1998 bomber Z1's to finish my spooky bandwagon build because they're the only retro forks that are cool enough and i came across these for sale in california; i'm skint and 'between jobs' but i hit the buy it now button because you're basically never going to see another set for sale. they cost me about a hundred quid posted. was gonna put them on this bike but i might just hang them up and look at them.

So all this talk of retro & modern bike building there are quite a few riders on here-when are we going to have a RR MTB ride??! Nice find by the way, brand new & boxed for that price you had no option but to buy them!

If anyone's ever up for a night ride, there's a bunch of us who go out on a tuesday night fairly locally. Not a fast ride, just a social one through the woods for a couple of hours

Thats Adele Croxon in that pic, Steve Peats missus (at the time anyhows) yeah that's the name i was searching for. hard to find anything else though. in fact old bikes in general are hard to find info on. probably because there wasn't the massive amount of online info there is now before the turn of the century. maybe it's time i built a website full of scans of old dirt mags.

Crikey, good find. Only slightly more common than poor quality wobbly children's play pony manure

I remember a friend swiftly binning a pair when the legs started to seperate from the CROWN and the brace creaked like hell. Scary!
