I'd like to add my thanks for a superb day. As a track day virgin I wasn't entirely sure what to expect, but I enjoyed every minute of it (well, every minute after the fog finally lifted anyway). I was also pleasantly surprised by the mix of cars there - I was expecting my bog standard Legacy 2.0 GL estate to be by far the slowest car there, but it wasn't even close. In fact it did amazingly well considering its 155,000 miles, 185/70 tyres and tired rear shocks - the only problem it had was cooking the brakes on the first two sessions. The temperature gauge never moved, even when it was bouncing off its rev limiter, and even the tyres were still legal by the end of the day. The handling was interesting - lift-off oversteer to make a 205 GTI go green with envy, but superb traction out of corners. For what must have been the cheapest car there by some margin it gave a pretty good account of itself.
I also thoroughly enjoyed the passenger rides in the big conical-tyred Benz and the little red Nova, and watching colonelk and some of the other Bahnstormers going sideways (and occasionally backwards) past the pits. And listening to Bstardchild's de-baffled Monza screaming up the straight. I definitely intend to go back there in April...

B&D..... if you're at the next one and I'm at the next one (as long as I don't kill the old girl, but she was fine all day this time) Ill gladly take you out, would love a ride out in yours too shotgun! 'course you can get out in mine, if it would go sideways I'd throw the keys at you happy to take anyone round. I should be bringing the battlebus again, new whip won't be ready in time for april.

I might dispute you on the cheapest car thing, although my car didnt exactly give a good account of itself ;D ;D ;D Your BX did look pretty quick the one time I saw it out on the track. Mind you, with an Mi16 engine and weighing next to nothing it should be really. I look forward to seeing it properly in action next time. OK, maybe the Legacy wasn't quite the cheapest car there - I don't think that green 205 with no exhaust can have cost its owner much either. I'm still glad I took the Legacy rather than something more expensive though - the thing with a £160 banger is that you can thrash it to within an inch of its life with absolutely no misgivings - if it breaks you just throw it away. I think I would have been a lot more circumspect in the Cresta.

OK. £160, you win hands down. ;D ;D The bx owes me a minimum of 400 notes. I was following you around for a bit when i was passengering in the red nova. You definatley werent the slowest car there by a long shot

And the thank you's continue Didn't get as much track time this time round as the front crank seal elected to pop after the first session . Not a horrendous leak, but enough cover the whole crossmember and anti roll bar! Bagged a couple of rides out with mechanic and bruisercapri which was appreciated. Mechanic had several people ask what the hell was in his little MX3 as he was giving the bigger stuff a run for thier money and it sounded teh shizz on an open pipe bouncing off the limiter at 8K ;D I shall return. Not sure what I'll be driving, but even if it means brining the Mondeo I'll be back

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

As a footnote, I had to get the sh*gg*d front tyre done today. First question I got was "Did you enjoy your trackday?". Methinks they have a few through the doors! Mind you, there was a BIG stack of non-road legal tyres there and some gash alloys lying around.... hmm, ideas for next year...

Yeah thanks to the organisers and everyone involved, top day, had so much fun out on track.
I kept looking in my mirror for bruisercapri thinking he was about to pass me cos i couldnt see him.
I had meant to drop back to let you show me the lines you were taking round the bends, but perhaps it was better I didn't follow you on the bend before the straight.
