I was back home from uni this weekend and whilst I was here I planned to try and get the old moped running.
It has been owned by my grandad since it was nearly new. He used to use it to ride it everyday to a stately home where he was a gamekeeper. After this it has sat in his garage for the last 20-30 years. I got hold of it a few years ago when he moved house.
Anyway, we got it out from the back of the garage and gave it a quick check over. Being optimistic
we decided to see if it would fire up......

FAIL!!!!!
So next we checked for a spark, which turned out to be weak. So after clening the points all seemed well.
After more pedaling it still wouldn't start so out came the Easy Start and.......

Its only running on easy start as the fuel in the tank has gone off. Everything works including the lights, horn and brakes!!

Not bad for a 40 year old scooter that hasn't run for years.
Now I am thinking of putting it up for sale and have been for a while. I will probably never ride it and it seems a shame when someone else could be getting some pleasure out of it. I doub't it would need much to get it thru an MOT. The brakes need a good service and it needs a bit of a clean up. The bike is complete with noting missing as far as I can see. I will probs put it in the for sale section next week. If it doesn't sell, I will happily put it back in the garage for another few years.
