Cheers guys! Sorry for the late reply, haven't got 'tinternet at my flat yet so access is a bit limited.
Markbognor & Posam- Thanks for your interest, yeah i'll post up a link to some of my stuff for you at some point
BGTmidget- Yeah it's Leicester
Thanks for the offer of helping move, appreciated! But I think it's a van hire job really, loads of tat i didn't even realise I had!!
PaulMi16- Cheers for your offer aswell mate, appreciated
Yep do have your mop buddy, i've left it in Nottingham with Dean because if you remember he was going to go over his wheels with it. But let me know whern you want it back and i'll make sure i'm there
Supaimpy- The doors open onto a public road for all to see, no way of hiding them or what's inside because people seem to automatically peek in when the doors are open as they walk past so doesn't make much difference posting it on a public forum. But don't worry I won't be discussing the security on here ;
Tallsam- I pay £50 p/w for this place, but that includes electrickery so it's not too bad
Filmidget- Yep i'm with you there, I know I won't get round to putting up shelves and clearing stuff out once all the tats in! I've been busy clearing stuff out and making essential workshop furniture, and hopefully going to give it a lick of paint on the inside in a week or two because as you say, it will make a world of difference!
Thanks again for the trailer offer, that would be a massive help once I get the twin engine project up to the rolling stage
Psuk2008- I found this one on Gumtree, it was the first one I went to see but just loved the quirkyness of the place and went for it straight away. Not sure if I was licky or that theres lots of places like this dotted around? Gumtree is a good place to start though it seems
Bit of a progress report then! I've been working on this place every night 'til the late hours, and it's starting to look better.
^ I've taken about 3 car loads of rubbish to the tip, and theres still loads more to take! But the backs of the doors you can see in the background with that horrible hardboard nailed to them.....
^....... Started getting on my nerves so I took a claw hammer to them. And after about half an hour had these far nicer looking origional doors exposed
I don't even want to paint them, I reckon it looks nice like that.
^ The ceiling was covered with the same stuff, and it was a bit loose and missing in places so I decided to rip that down too....
^ ....... And what was hiding behind was also a lot nicer looking! Nice origional beams and floorboards, which although riddled with woodworm cleaned up pretty nice
^ Moving on to other jobs, I pulled this table out of the junk, and once it was cleaned down a bit it looks like a good 'un! I will put that upstairs where it will serve as a desk to do all the cleaner non-car stuff I make.
What I really need though is some sort of workbench downstairs for general workshop use....
^ I took down the makeshift 'door-layed-on-top-of-a-frame' bench that was in the wrong place, and used the frame and some big thick old planks that I found upstairs to make this one on the other wall (which will create more space for ease of fitting another car in).
^ It's nice and solid and just about big enough, but most of all it was recycled and free! That chair was found lying around too, old school! probably quite literally from an
old school actually. Just need a nice big vice on the end and it'll be done
That space at the end of the bench will be handy for putting the oxy-acetalene stuff or maybe even a pillar drill one day.
With the place looking a bit bigger after getting rid of the old bench, I decided that the cupboards on the opposite side of the workshop needded to come down too to really open the place up as much as possible.
^ They're handy, but in the wrong place completely.
^ I have a small store room at the back of the place where these will fit in perfectly. I've yet to take a decent pic of the store room because my camera doesn't have a flash, but I will show you it soon!
^ The store room's walls are all at odd angles (in fact all the walls in this place are at odd angles, not a right angle to be found in the whole building! No idea why it was built that way?) so that means that the end of this cupboard needs to be altered to fit the angle of the walls.
^ Hard to tell in that pic, but I cut a wedge out of the end of the thing, refitted the side and then shortened the door to fit again by about 3". Now it fits snugly in the corner of the store room and will be af far more use there aswell.
Sorry I can't show you where they're fitted yet but I will borrow a decent camera and show you it
In fact i'll get some decent pics of the whole place next time as these are a bit lame!
