Well after a few months of looking for the right place at the right price, i've finally got a workshop sorted!
Although having somewhere to finish Project Family Dragster was a major driving force in finding a workshop, this place isn't solely for the car projects: This building is to be devided between bieng a place to do my sculptures, a studio for my drawn artwork, a workshop to make all the car stuff/bike stuff/sculpture stuff I will be doing.... So it will generally just be a Street headquarters!
^ After a look round the place I signed the contract yeaterday morning, and this is what I got! Origionally an old Coach house, it's a really quirky and interesting place! Has the origional brickwork and a slate roof, with charecter in abundance! Plus, it's literally a 2 minuite from my house.... Uber convenient!
That's my good friend Jim peeking out and giving it the thumbs-up seal of approval.
^ That's the back end of the place. Hard to get a good picture of the inside all at once as it's an oddly shaped space. But I can fit two Escort-sized cars in there with roof for workshop facilities and ample tat storage
Check out the ancient fire extinguisher... That's staying ;D
^ This place hasn't been used for absolutely ages, it's simply filled with dust! Electrics all work, miraculously.
^ The other side of the space. That's me rolling up my sleeves to get stuck in and clear out some curse word! That 'bench' needs to go, i'm going to build a better one and put it somewhere else.
^ But wait, theres more! Next to a handy storage area there are these stairs, and they lead up to the top floor!
Jim pokes his head up to see if theres any ghosts up there.....
^..... There isn't! But they're missing out because this is an excellent space. It's the same length as downstairs (obviously) but with a sloped roof. Didn't get a decent pic of the whole room but will do shortly. There is some really nice floorboards under decades of dust and debris......
^ Action shot! There I am sweeping the bejeesus out of the place, and man was it dusty! That stuff in the air is all dust
^ Took two car loads to the local tip, and probably need to take more! Theres a lot of curse word there but also some treasure including some VW steel wheels (I think), various pieces of wood and metal etc. And also all the cement and gravel! Anyone want there driveway doing?!
Getting dark by now, must be time to call it a day.
HOW evil does this building look in thats shot!?!?!?
The best bit is, the garge has double doors at the back too which open out to a big car park. The car park is a secure one with a lockable gate, and the owner has given me the key to it so I can access the rear of my place and said I will be able to park a car or two there no problem.
So, yesterday and today was for assessing and clearing the place, and I have now designated all the spaces to the things I need including a place for Family Dragster to be worked on, a workbench and room for tools/machines, a 'clean' work area for some of the stuff I do and an even cleaner area for drawing/writing/ideas etc, and tat storage. There seems to be just about enough space for it all
So, in this thread I will document what needs doing and what gets done, and hopefully I will have a fully funcioning workshop/art studio by the end of it all.
Cheers for reading!
