when i were still a nipper ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) we used to see these all the time in factory race stylee, i live in Abingdon and when the MG factory was still there they had a testing ground at the rear which happily backed on to our school so most lunch breaks were spent on the top field listening to the cars storming about like lunatics ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) saturdays could be spent riding down on ya chopper - new then mind ;D to the railway siding to watch the lorries bringing the brand new mg's down to be loaded onto the trains - wasn't life simple back then ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) remember clearly the v8 tr7 rally cars and later the 6r4's thundering about the town - happy days ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Found these on youtube: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=idiEuQNYKMguk.youtube.com/watch?v=JNEt067piwUuk.youtube.com/watch?v=idBupPfEHQ0I'm 'doing mine up', problem I found is there's no support for them. This is mostly down to them being completely unique, with no parts from previous models, and no parts carried forward to the sd1, except for the 5" wheel pcd. 15" Rostyles from the p5 and sd1 alloys are 'popular' replacement wheels, other than putting polished stainless hubcaps on from the 3500s models. Jeep Cherokees also have the same pcd, bringing the possible wheel sizes up to 18". Then you have the problem with rear wheelarch clearance on anything over 195s. The front suspension is also tricky with the horizontally mounted coils, so the common mod there is to simply cut down the uprights to give the desired drop!

Ive always wanted to 'do one' TBH, ever since my friend bought the ropiest one Ive ever ever seen. It had had an argument with a bin lorry. He kept driving it until he got in it enthusiatically one day and put his foot through the floor. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) The only thing I find 'wrong' with the shape, is it begs for a chin spoiler. In my eyes they always look like they forgot to put the front valance on at the factory, if you know what I mean.

I used to own a 3500s and bloody loved it!
I think it's one of those rare cars that's really hard to modify and not ruin- The Volvo Amazon is another that springs to mind.
I remember the MGs, TR7s and 6R4s too Chris- I believe that's the only reason the branch line was fitted in Abingdon- as the council (Abingdon was the capital town of Berkshire at the time) rejected the offer of a railway initially, thinking that rail travel would never catch on.

sold it for £90!
Guy in Drayton bought it. I should've shoved a V8 in it when I had the chance.

I nwas lookinf to buy a P6 last year, but ultimately what put me off was the high potential for a snotter wrapped in shiny panels, V8 versions are quite cheap at the moment, and far superior to the lowly 2000TC. there very easy with only a small amount of knowledge to check for rust, it's impossible to hide a snotter without a lot of work (i.e. as much as any car can be bodged) I've owned a 2000TC a V8 Auto and a V8 Manual and can honestly say that the 2000TC was the best drive ('cept the noise of course) 2000SC's are very different animal and quite pedestrian esp in auto flavour

There were loads of modded ones about in the 80's then they all went rusty and had the V8's nicked out of them (smaller engined ones went to the banger tracks) the ones that are left just tend to be bought by the sort of people who like their classics standard i guess especially as they don't NEED mods to make them comfy and able to handle todays roads and traffic.

sold it for £90! wasn't worth anything at the time. That car had an incredibly rare laminated rear screen with almost invisible heating elements in. The guy I originally got the car off also offered me a nice PV544, but I turned that down too ( I regret that to this day). D'oh!

Never had any probs at all getting parts for mine, a surprising amount is interchangeable, as i found as when I owned my 3 P6's I also owned my P5B (which i still own) JRW, Ely services and Ray Weekly are your guys for bits and there is a good guy up[ in Cambridgeshire who breaks em and sells bits quite cheap (he got my Auto V8 P6 for free when the buyer let me down and i had to move next day)..

Love them. There's an immaculate orange one in my local scrappy with a buggered V8. So yes, the owner scrapped it, the absolute retard. ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)

I love them but they rot like anything and there can't be many left. I was lucky with my p6, it had been 'lost' in a barn since 1980 so was in excellent condition for an 8 year old ex company car! There are still some minters in dry storage, but they're becoming rarer now. What they need are more of us getting them into daily use so they become more sought after. One problem is that most people who see it ask me if it has the strip speedo or what is it?
