Is it raining where you are? Cos it's cats and dogs here... AND! It would appear the Ancient Marina has just taken a hit!!!! Just now there was a fooking big bang & flash, and half the paint appears to have disappeared off the roof!!!!!

just got home form working in my lock up, we've got storms here, quite active with the lightning but not a lot of thunder or rain.

Driving back from canvey tonight i thought people were flashing there lights at me, i started wondering what was hanging off the car and getting paranoid, but it was just lightning. No thunder, no rain, just loads of lightning. Very bizarre.

Never mind the paint, it looks like parking`s a bit tight round your way !
BTW, was watching the storm out of our back door last night and saw a tree get hit by lightning and fall down blocking the road !

i loved it! had to drive up the m1 to pick my gf up, lots of streak lightning right overhead - the stuff that goes from cloud to cloud. luckily the motorway wasn't busy as i was too busy watching to stay in one lane cars are the safest place anyway, as you've got four rubber tyres as your only contact so the lightning can't earth through you. unless your handbrake cable is dragging

Power flickered a couple of times but nothing else... out the front of my girlfriends house, there's nothing for miles...(except Silverstone Circuit) excellent for watching lightning

That must have been the worst-ever repaint of a car in the history of time. Whoever did it should be given a vigorous battering.

So the Marina truly is evil, most impressed with the paint damage! We had buckets of rain, thunder lightning and everwhere was flooding so i did the only sensible thing - whent and had some sideways down some back roads and the local industrial estates!

we had a a few big crashes, plenty of flashes and lashes of rain! i ain't a big fan of it so put some earplugs in and fell asleep! we had if about 3 hours and was tempted to ring my mate and get him to take me out, because i don't mind it when I'm in a car but in the house i hate it! murky and still at the mo, but we are meant to have some more through the day

Quality roof markings NickB ;D (I take it that you are not too upset about it ) - Probably the heavy rain caused it rather than a lightening strike. I went down to the Elite1000 VAG meet at the Ace Cafe last night in the Derby - the journey back up to Wellingborough was one of those that gives you an increased attachment to your car. In my 11 years of driving I can honestly say that last night's weather was the worst i've ever driven in. The standing water was the most dangerous part, there were numerous occasions where I had to wind on an armfull of lock to avoid being flung off the road as I hit deep puddles on the side of the road - I then had to quickly wind off the lock again as I emerged from the water so as to avoid driving into the incoming vehicles Was glad to get myself & the Derby home in one peice & was chuffed that the car had ran faultlessly through all the rain - the north circular was literally like a river & numerous more modern cars were pulled over to the side with their hazards on Went to bed but couldn't sleep for a while cos of all the adrenaling still pumping round my body

So after the lightening's jumped god knows how far on it's journey to earth it's foiled by a gap less than 12" between a car and the ground...amazing stuff.
