Having my first 205 GTi written off thanks to a Latvian driver thinking he was back 'home'. I did 1 and 3/4 rolls and the car finished up looking like this.

205 GTi Mi16
205 XS - Now in filmidget's signature
Clio dci 80
I've found in life if someone is an idiot, they generally stay and idiot.

No damage involved, but...
Shortly after I passed my test (many many moons ago) I heard a family friend talking about her grandfather's death, and how she'd had to get shot of all his possessions. Including a 67 Beetle in near mint condition, with less than 40k on the clock. To my shock, she said that she'd been so desperate to get rid of it, she'd flogged it for about £800 - she 'would have charged a grand, but it had a dent in the bumper and a burn-mark on the front seat'.
But the absolute killer was when I happened to mention said Beetle to my parents, and they informed me that they'd had full knowledge of it from the outset. Failing to notice the tears forming in my eyes, they then told me that they were on the point of buying it for me, but 'knew how disappointed I'd be if I didn't pass my test', and 'didn't want to put extra pressure on me'.
My relationship with them has never fully recovered.

Buying an MG Midget that was not as described. By that I mean a head which was warped and cracked (as verified by a machining shop), hence why it had fresh oil. The curse word put a spanner on the starter to the body to short it by wedging it in and not telling me. Considering the battery was on the other side of the bulkhead (so about 3 feet away from you inside the car), it's nice to know he cared...
After alot of effort I finally got that shed remotely roadworthy, and after a fair whack of money spent on it get it an MOT (I sold it at cost - £1000, which includes the cost of the car), it wasn't a car that would 'glide through an MOT'.
Besides that, the fact that my Jag got broken for spares when I sold it. Was a rare XJR model too (XJ40 4.0).

In hindsight, I suppose breaking my first 2cvs chassis by jumping it over the seawall onto the beach one night, seemed funny at the time, but now prices have shot through the roof, I should have cared a bit more...
Perhaps more tragic was when I sold my minty 2.8 Injector, and got a wanky passat estate. Idiot.

Driving my Citroen ZX 2.0 Volcane into a car park in Canterbury late at night, not seeing a large metal post, caving in the whole passenger side in a pretty serious way right in front of a couple of dozen jeering chavs. In my defense, the missus and I had been, er, cavorting shortly beforehand and the side windows were a little steamy... suffice to say the first bang was rather less traumatic than the second.
