Please! Has anyone here any experience of them? I had it in my mind that there's someone here who works for a Porsche specialist or Porsche Centre. I've wanted a proper 911 for as long as I can remember and I'm now in a position to be able to afford one, given that 964s don't seem to suffer from the scene tax that affects the 993... What should I be looking out for? How easy is it to come by RS kit for one, or alternatively how easy is it to make one look like an older model? Say, will 15" fuchs clear the brakes? The idea of having PAS and four wheel drive in something that looks like a late seventies beastie appeals, especially if you hide the identity with a 'T' plate or something. Obligatory pics of the looks I like: Thanks for any help!

Nice cars. The 964 is regarded as the ugly 911, not sure why but it also has a bad rep as being problematic. Actually all problems with Dual mass flywheel and dual dizzys would all be sorted now, so these are actually a bargain. Servicing costs and parts are expensive, i went for the pre 89 impact bumper for my own car. It was the most expensive car i ever had. It cost a fortune to keep going. Admitidly i had a new wing (rust) and lots of rust remedy work done, but it cost me close to £4k in a year. Lots of people carrying out 'back dating' on pre 89 cars to make them look old. One particular company is called Paul Stephens auto art - great look, but expensive. Another recomend is www.impactbumpers.com. - some nice guys on there that will help you through the mine feild of 911 ownership. I would recomend a 968 Sport/club sport or a 944 turbo too, i have had several of both, fantastic cars, and very under stated. I actually sold mine as it was becoming a garage queen. I want to get my hands dirty now....

16's are the smallest rim that fits on them, we tried to fit the 15 inch chrome steelies from an old 911 onto a 964. Didn't work.

Doesn't rainking have one...? *n Sadly now gone Mine wasn't a 964 though, it was the previous generation the same as the Gold one in the OP. It was a cracking car and pretty practical, could easily be a daily driver (especially the ones with PAS) we used to get 30MPG if we were careful too.... (although the noise was enough to push that figure much lower! haha) The only problem we had with ours was a problem with the Injection system that set us back about £800 but that was spread over two garages trying to trace the problem, and £300 of it was the part (Metering Head) - we didn't have it long enough to pay for a service! I WILL be having another.... although I'll save my pennies and make sure it's a 3.6 Turbo
