Does anyone know if the VR6 engine used in the Golf / Corrado is the same one used in the Sharon (?) MPV? Could this be a cheap reliable engine source for the Rocco........?!

Yeah, it's the same engine (also see Ford Galaxy...) as far as I know, think I've read somewhere it's slightly lower bhp than Golf VR6 though but that'll only be cams/chips/induction stuff.
Don't know if I've ever seen a VR'd Rocco, I thought there wasn't as much room in the engine bay compared to the Golf?

I'd be able to use the whole setup as well wouldn't I - brakes etc? Apparently there is a Turbo'd VR6 about in the states........

In a Mk2 Golf you can swap pretty much the whole VR6 subframe to get the wider track ('plus axle' setup) setup and 5 stud hubs with larger (280 or 288mm) brakes. Not sure on the 'Rocco due to bonnet clearance though?

Putting a VR6 into a rocco isn't as easy as a MK2 Golf, cos they're Mk1 Golf based. Better off with a 20v turbo or G60. Brakes are different too, you can buy adaptor brackets to fit audi 80/90 brakes and 280mm discs and then use MK2/3 rear disc set up.

That's why I don't want to put a G60 etc in - it's been done before. Do you reckon the Rocco is to heavy for a bike engine?

Nah - there's a mkI Scrote running a sub-1-litre bike lump. Still hoons around.
I say two mid-mounted bike lumps and rear wheel drive.

I'd like to keep it VW that's the problem........... So you want to stick a VAG engine into a VW, but one that hasn't been transplanted before,... .... good luck.
