Hi
I was giving a ford ka for my first car but the paintwork isn't great and it needs a respray!
Does anyone know of a good cheap place to get it done casue i want to get it sold so i can get a retro ride. "mk2 ford escort" ;D

To be honest i wouldn't bother, just give it a good clean and polish and sell it on with 12 months mot is your best bet. The money you'd spend on a respray you'd be lucky to get back when you sell it. As for a MK2 escort, hope you're feeling rich, 2 door shells are fetching 4 figure sums......
Don't mean to put a dampener on things, but i really think you'd better off saving your cash and just outing the KA(k) and then seeing what you can afford to get.

to be honest nothing is cheep any more
iv not long ago finished a colour change and the paint materials and waist removal cost me over £500 + workshop rent rates and electric + my wages +the governments bit =
so if you are intersted in a good respray pm me

Ya i know escorts are really expensive but i was hoping to spend the money from the KA and some of my student loan to afford it haha
I stay in Newcastle Upon Tyne, i have had quotes round the £500-£600 mark but i was just wondering if there was anything cheaper out there.

I cant help you with the paint work as I'm in essex, however, on a straight colour it would start at the £600 mark + materials at best.
As for the escort mate its all about being in the right place at the right time, talk to people and work out exactly what it is you want out of the car? and do your home work on the parts and the engine. All that doesn't cost anything, that way you will understand the car too. best time to buy a classic is winter, and don't buy the first thing that comes along.
My advice too would be run the ka, to get around save the cash till you know what you want to do with the escort, ie restore or modify. The plan the expenses. . .is all about planing. Hope I have helped

If you're in the Newcastle area, there are a number of people who learned the car painting trade at Nissan and now do car repairs on the cheap in sheds and the like. I've had the whole side of a company car repaired and re-sprayed for less than the insurance excess... I could believe 500-600 to do a Ka. Still ^ what they said, a Ka that has an MOT will always sell for a few notes to someone, even if it's a bit tatty, and probably won't be worth much more for being re-sprayed.

thanks for all your advice, I bought the ford ka for cheap so i'll just drive it around until i can afford the car i want. I heard that college's do resprays cheap so the students can get practise so i'm going to inquire at my college cause i know one of my friends got his car serviced and a dent removed for free from the college so i'll give it a try. ;D thanks again  |

if you're in newcastle try RS bodywork. they did loads of welding and painting on my manta for under £400 and i wasn't expecting much but it came out really nice.
can't find the phone number but it's on goldspink lane in jesmond.
to be honest though how much is a ka worth?
