A Fiat 130 coupe In silver, with blue interior - just like me dad had. What worries me is that it's close to where he sold it, so it could well be it Arches were all in good nick (probably made of filler) but there were two nasty rust holes in the roof, that seriously need looking at. Bonnet was propped open and all seemed sound and there was a tax disc from a few years back on the floor... Should I follow it up? Nice 3.2 V6's in these. As soon as I texted my dad 'bout it he rang back immediatly ;D

I've been getting a hankering to build a special out of something,.. and Fiats are high on my list of potential base cars... what with the bodies rusting but the mechanicals being of the rather sporting variety it would seem a good combo. This would be ideal,... if only I had the time, money, space and skill

Also found two Dolomites, in a sorry state but maybe some spares. Gonna call back later and enquire about the 130 coupe, I really do quite fancy finding who owns it and if they'd part with it.... Or wether it goes

I really do quite fancy finding who owns it and if they'd part with it.... It's doubtful...I expect they're 'going to restore it'. There's the other situation too, you hassle someone to sell their car and then don't want it for the money they offer it to you for! I know a bloke who spent years trying to buy an S110R off an old bloke's drive, he eventually got it for about £300. Which was a bit annoying when he pulled it out from it's resting place and found the apparently clean car was utterly rotten on the side that was hidden from view in it's previous resting place!

All Fiat 130 coupes were auto's,a Borgy 35 i think,Back in old days i nearly bought a manual one with a getrag 5 speed conversion. The coupes were all handmade by bertone and still fetch really good money. But they are SLow.it may be connected to Ferrari through it's engine designer but they need a bit of kick up the kyhber to get them moving. Best bet is to drop in a small block chevy and turbohydro 350 trans.Thats a very good car,buy it ,store it if you can't afford repairs yet,the fact those ultra rare headlights are still there is a good indication of the conditon. Now for my Fiat 130 story ;D ;D In 1984 i wanted one really badly ,and in Sydney(OZ) I spotted a scruffy one parked in a street in the Italian suburb of Leichardt. I decided the best idea was to wait beside the car until the owner turned up and make an offer,as you do ;D I waited for 30 minutes and when no one came i drove home. That night on the tele news there was report of a Italian being shot dead in his car in Leichardt....the pic showed the car i had been standing next too!! The police visited me that night asking all sorts of questions until i convinced them i was only waiting to see the owner...The Late Owner .Bruno Neski was what is known as a "colourful identity".Police talk for Mafiosi.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

You must have it! Those 130 coops are one of pininfarina's most graceful cars - far nicer than the Rolls camargue. I badgered a poor young girl for her cherry. Well my mustard 120A coop to be exact. A years worth of driving past the car, post it notes and general stalking ensured that in the end she sold it to me.
The reason why did agree to sell it was due to the fact she forgot to put oil in the thing......still it only cost £75 2 years ago and i still haven't got round to working on it!

All Fiat 130 coupes were auto's,a Borgy 35 i think,Back in old days i nearly bought a manual one with a getrag 5 speed conversion. Wrong wrong wrong. Manual ones came from the factory but they are super-rare. I have an old 130 brochure which features a manual model. Best bet is to drop in a small block chevy and turbohydro 350 trans.Thats a very good car,buy it ,store it if you can't afford repairs yet,the fact those ultra rare headlights are still there is a good indication of the conditon. Horrendous! Sounds like sacrilege to me. The standard engine is only 165 bhp (from 3.2 litres!) but it loves to rev, is a very light all-alloy ohc design and makes the most glorious ferrari-like noise. The handling of the 130's is great, beautifully balance and you can really hustle along without uspetting your passengers. You can keep your yank boat anchor thanks! ;D
