Now I`m not one to make comment that often but it has come to my notice that in the General Board there seems to be more and more articles on motorbikes. I generally don`t mind having just got into biking myself but are these boards for cars/vans/trucks only or is any form of transport worthy of posting ? Just playing Devil`s Advocate here but if I specifically want to see bikes I would go to a bike forum. Maybe they should go under other projects ? Your opinions gentlemen (and ladies)

Must admit, bikes interest me about as much as sewing. I did think the "other" section was primarily to cater for non-car things, such as bikes.

my opinion? If its retro, and you erm... ride it, where else would it go? And what did karl benz stick his first spluttering wheezing brainchild into? Variety is the spice of life, we also have occasional pics of trucks, buses, steam tractors/road rollers etc and don't feel the need to hush them off to another board. As long as it has wheels and an engine, its fine with me have a bike (one of my all time favorites - I have a thing for triples.)

Wheels (however many) + engine = win in my opinion. Remember - 'everything has potential'
So long as the board doesn't get overrun with bikes, then it's all good to me.
p.s. Bikes are my 'first love', way ahead of cars, but this is mostly a car forum after all!

Hi Chevazon I posted a Q about m/cycles yesterday. I asked in the post for mods to move it ,if it wasnt in appropriate area,as I do when I'm unsure. There cant be many on here that are interested in them ..........I only had one reply!........ OR everyones too wrapped in a dream like state about a vehicle they would like to own ,and probably never will,or too busy 'spamming 'for sale posts to bother!........just my 2p....

Rod I must have missed that one - sorry. I just think if we are branching out to cover all and sundry then there should be a seperate page for each. don't get me wrong folks I like to see a retro/custom bike but I`m unsure if this is the place to do it. Here`s a bike for you bikers and a trike for you trikers -

Interesting question actually Chevazon, I have ridden bikes since age 14, and still do so 31 years later.
Simplistically one cannot answer the question, though I love bikes and LOLCats, I think the bikes should be kept in the other interests section.
I think most would be surprised at just how many people on here do like a bike, clever engineering etc. Similarly, many of the forums I frequent do have a sectin of carnuts too, and tollerate them in the open discussion forums.

'twas rude of me not to post this earlier. Shame it's raining, I could happily ride it now.

I'm not a bike person really, but the stuff that goes on in the custom bike world is pretty amazing and some of the styling ideas can definitely translate across to car modding. Plus there's those lovely carbs they have... and the revvy engines... I don't ride a bike because I'm 99% sure I would end up as a smear on the tarmac within a few weeks of owning one. My personal opinion: I don't mind bikes being posted up as long as the board doesn't get full of them, and I can't see that happening. As with all threads, if I'm not interested in it I don't read it.

Meh. I'll happily live with it, like Benz Boy. Only read this thread because I suspected it'd be about what it is about. If that makes sense...

cant say I'm overly fussed about bikes, but i have no problem with some* being posted up. i pretty much skim past anything with bike in the title, unless its been posted by BodieandDoyle, cos he seems to show us some rather splendid bobbers every once in a while. * as long as we see pics like the others in this thread I'm happy to have them here, however, id have something to say if the board was over run with modern plastic fantastic rubbarsh and power ranger suits. my 2d.

I'm new to the forum and i love bikes and most interesting vehicles and there is always a crossover point with modding and paint and a general wish to improve the vehicle. i have a 1966 humber sceptre that requires fettling a vw transporter thats in the process of a camper conversion a vmax thats being converted to a trike and a buell firebolt to ride round on whilst all the mods are being done. what defines retro then? i wouldnt say a mk1 fiesta was particularily retro (he says hastily ducking the crossfire) although there are some very interesting ones out there. I'm a member of 6 differant forums and usually try to stay within the forum but like i previously stated there are loads of similarities in all "motor vehicle" related forums i'l get me coat
