It's expensive to get into Dorset these days, you're talking £17.50 per day!!
Seriously expensive but a fantastic spectacle to see!
Nowhere else in the world can you see 200 engines together!
Come the GDSF there's an extra city appears in Dorset as 100000+ people descend on the 500 acre site between Blandford & Salisbury

Some thieving bastards broke into it a while back (6 months or so) & stole some engine plates which were displayed on the wall & sold them for scrap!
Only one plate was recovered in a scrapyard but by the time the polce got off their arses & got there, the plate had been melted down!!
His roller & traction engine were at the yard at the time too but have since been moved.

Fred was a Legend! I met him once many years ago at the Yeovil Festival of transport. My dad was raving on about him all day but back then (whenever it was) I suppose I didnt realy quite get it, authough I do remember him having a certain way about him. I started watching his programms later on because I remembered meeting him back then. I'm so proud to say I met him, he was one of few people who realy did seem to know just about everything about british indusrial history, and clearly loved it. Mrs FR and I were at YFOT that year too. Fred is indeed a legend, lovely bloke too, spent a good 10 mins talking to us. Still have the programme he autographed for us, very prized possession of Mrs FR's.
