Don't think I've ever seen one of those! mad frame is it Cromo? Pedals are well matched.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Yup, I'd say it was, certainly not light enough for alu that's for sure. I can see me having the occasional hernia lifting it on and off the bike rack anyways.....

I think its aluminium as it has big welds, sure sign of tig welded alloy Down hill bikes are plain heavy. Some work mates have them.
That looks very industrial. Not sure if its good looking. Maybe purposefull

Cool, so Alu it is then. Still sodding heavy though, on par with my old Foes I reckon. Managed to get my MRP to fit last night. From the looks of it they've only been able to take a purpose built Chain Device before. So after buying the pressed steel version of the MRP I got creative with an angle grinder, drill and tap. Had to basically cut off the lower MRP arm (it fouled the swingarm) and shape it to miss the welds. Then drill the swing arm and tap a thread into it to take the MRP Roller, also had to drill out the bearing spacer in the roller too. The result? From this: To this:

Where do you find these things! I've been (half heartedly) looking for a decent downhill bike for a while - prefer an older frame that I can come off a fair bit and not worry too much about giving it a hammering..........
I like that - heavy or not it's mad! ;D

Haha, cheers. Got it over here on the Isle of Man off a lad that was hanging up his armour....his loss is my gain I suppose, although I still haven't had a chance to ride it yet Oh yeah, added some more retro goodness today. I see your Hanebrinks and I raise you a set of Mantiou X-Vert carbons.... Oh, and if you want retro, I'll throw up a pic of my cracked ATX frame when I find the piccie... gtvsaviour, I'll keep my eye's peeled for you, I get offered bikes quite a lot as I'm forever changing them. Let me know what sort of budget you're on and I'll keep you in mind.
