settle a bet. how do you pronounce baja? bar jar or ba ja (each rhyming with BAt without the t)
and also were they ever released in the uk and if so how much would they be going for today? (second hand i assume)

Yep, it's bar har. They weren't actual models, just normal Beetles 'converted' for duty on the sand dunes (originally the Baja Desert, hence the name). Eventually people marketed kits to do away with the front and rear bodywork, instead of just cutting it. www.nitrobug.freeserve.co.uk/bug1a.htm

There's a Bond film (I can never remember which one, I've seen them all so many times they sort of merge together as one) where the Willard White character shouts "Barrr-Harrr? We don't have any operations in Barrr-Harrr!" or something like that. And that's exactly how I always pronounce it I think it's the one with Bambi and Thumper, and maybe the MachII Mustang that Shaun Connery gets onto two wheels in order to escape the impossibly tricky situation with the Police cars in the parking lot... Diamonds are forever?

I always thought it was bar har, but i could be getting confused. I agree from the area south of california Mmmm - thats what I thought, there's a sample in either a Propellerheads or Avalanches track that says 'Bar Har California' - could be mistaken though
