Great thread! The Doomwagon. Just the shonkiest, smelliest, randomest barge ever. Ended its days in an Italian scrapyard. I loved that thing.

Did you take it there Dean or did you sell it to someone else? Reason I'm asking is that I remember seeing pictures and video of it on the Staples2Naples forum/website from 2005 (I think!).

My old Anglia van. Loved that beast. It went darn sarf and has never been seen since. (it hasn't beentaxed since so is probably sat in a lockup somewhere rotting away). If anyone knows its whereabouts (reg JGV459F) let me know - I'd buy it back Doing what it did best

Easy - My Y reg 1500cc Golf Mk1. Utterly shagged engine, rusty body, crud in the tank, yet still one of the best cars I've ever owned.
Comparing it with its competition from the 1970s that I've had at other times (Allegro, Marina, 127, Escort, Alpine, Fiesta...) it must have been amazing at the time.
I'm sure at some point I'll have another one, meanwhile my daily is its distant descendant, one of the last Polos on the same floorpan.

I spent years on "the ultimate" Vauxhall Victor. Nut and bolt restoration of the body and interior to pretty much concours standard with some super rare parts made of unobtanium along the way. Bare metal, the works. Then I replicated the "Black Prince" special Ventora based running gear and went with a moderately tuned 350 Chevy V8 for power. AWEZUMZ. I had abut £16K "invested" in the car over a period of some years it was "in build" and then in a fit of pique over a torque converter issue and a moment of financial weakness I sold the car for £3500.
It appears in magazines every now and again (usually in show reports) and I hear of it out and about through folks still in the Vauxhall scene. I don't think a week goes by where I don't regret selling that car and I sold it 5 years ago or maybe 6.

Definately regret selling this: 1963 Morris Mini Minor, floor starter, was my great uncles and had less than 20,000 miles on the clock having stayed in Greenwich for 99% of its life. Was only ever used to go to and from the shops and coach yard so about 4 miles a day lol Wasnt even that bad condition really as it had sat in the coach yard under so was mainly dented, definately no major rot infact just needed a mechanical over haul and few bits. Unfortunately it was a project for me and my dad but being self employed and having 4 kids means time is never available so after 5 years sitting around it got sold to a local garage to restore for about £250 oh if i had it now it would have been done ages ago and would be worth a pretty penny now as well how depressing

Hmm, gonna have to make this two I'm afraid. I'd love my A35 back as it was my first car and was prematurely taken from me by an Escort cabriolet driver who decided to use it as a brake. I'd love to have had it longer than the 18 months it was in my ownership as in that time I'd already done one engine swap to a twin carbed 1098 and it would have been interesting to have slowly tweaked and developed it mechanically. The other is my T bucket which still exists but not currently in one piece. If I could have welded at the time I'd have been able to fix the few things that needed sorting and it was so much fun!

No, wasn't me. I sold it to Danblez on here, I think he joined RR after he bought the Maz as there was so much interest in their mad trip from fello forummers! I followed their progress with delight. Couldn't have wished for a better end for the old girl. There was talk of a retro-rides rescue mission to bring her back to Blighty but the logistics of it were a nightmare.

Mine would probably be my first Citroen Dyane. Mildred Mildew the Marshmallow. Bought for £375, I thrashed that car everywhere between Kent and North Yorkshire, usually with my foot flat to the floor. Going off roading in Yorkshire was fun, but did almost rip the rear wing off, which uncovered the sad truth that this car was never going to pass another MoT. I did 14,000 miles in that car and it was serviced once in that time.
It was jade (fade) green with a stripey roof and metallic purple wheels. I really loved it. Which is why I'll never sell my 2CV. I'm not making the same mistake again - and it's cost me plenty to keep hold of this one!

Without doubt my S1 GTI. Wanted one for years, Finally got one, then had to sell it a year later to help fund a house move. Really miss it, but I'll have another one soon enough. Miss my Corrado to.
