Done some work again. The car needed a new exhaust, so I built one, nice and simple. Based it of a used Simons sportexhaust I got for free from a friend, but changed it from having the last muffler, to having a straight pipe from the rear axle and back out... Look how nice it is here, before I cut it:P Then over to wheel arches:) I rubbed with the new wheels, so some Arch flaring was needed. What surprised me most was what met me when I took of the plastic flares, some polish and it would be mint, no rust, neither over or under behind the inner plastic arch, which is gone now I cut with an airsaw though, and flared them out quite a bit. Rubbed them down and painted where the paint chipped off, and put the plastic flares back on... Then I figured some more touge look, so the stickers on the window had to go. Our team is called Touge Stars, so I intend to have that sticker somewhere, but for now, it's this: Note the damage on that wing, had to fix... I feel I managed, even if it was my first try ;D: What was my problem now, was that the right side has a few dents, and rust both by the fuel filling and after a break in attempt it had both a dent and rust by the handle, so now I started fixing that as well... The car will be of the road for a few days now, but damn how good it will look when I'm done...

All straightened out, not that bad? The right side of the car didn't get that nice due to paint not matching and me being to bothered when finishing it, but I think I'll roughly do that side again... Also note the nice sticker ;D Took away all stickers from the window, now only a J sticker.... And the new exhaust... Simons mid, Straight pipe from the rear axle and back. That combined with lots of holes in the airfilter box, gives it a fantasticly grunty sound All this, combined with no more tire rubbing and a newly mounted short shift kit makes the car an absolute blast to drive. It still will get updates all the time, but it's very much in the right direction now ;D

First Norwegian Retro Ride meet. Not big, and a bit VW dominated, but good fun with nice people:D

I'm fine, got a bit of a stiff neck, and mental health dropped badly for a while, but it's better now...
All focus is on the MK1!

Agh, what a sad ending - I only just spotted this thread too. Love your thinking on the merging of styles and the European / Scandinavian equivalent! Best of luck with the Mk1.

I have to thank all of you who commented, it warms and motivates me that people liked what I was transforming this golf into:) I've had my licence for 5 years, never crashed, and for the past 3 years I've had 11 cars. Of course, some of them was just for transportation, but I've had a few fun motors as well. But even though having owned an RX7, a Volvo 242 full caged beast, a fantastic '75 Corolla 2 door, and a few bugs, this was my to date favourite car. It was the cheapest, simplest, most maintenance free funcar I have ever had, and the potential to do something new was endless, even though someone thought it impossible. But no, that adventure had to be taken from me because of a stupid, stupid, stuuuupid pizza delivery boy with to busy of a schedule to just brake a little bit...... Oh well. On to the next project: retrorides.proboards86.com/index.cgi?board=readersrides&action=display&thread=47663
