Glad you´ve got it all sorted Mark, what sort of power are you expecting from the new one? its down on power by about 150bhp as the new block is not a stroker and has lower compression but should still have around 350bhp plus with the lower compression I can use the gas anyway so over all it will still have about the same the stroker kit is still good bar the pistons so will be going back in at some point but with lower comp pistons as there are some diferent plans for it for the future

took the van along to its last show running a manual box finished up with the show at around 3:30 and headed down to the workshop tremec box is now out ready for the new C4 box to take its place i pulled the covers off the top of the tremec to have a look and see what the damage was only to find the box as clean as a whistle inside no signs of wear or breakages no noticeable play in any of the bearings that i could see or feel , i did how ever thing a worryingly large amount of play on the rear diff so that will need some investigation and with a bit of luck that will be what was causing all the noise through the trans meaning the TKO could then be sold on as a good box manual shifter removed ready for the B&M pro stick to take its place

i'm a little confused. why did you decide to swap to an auto box? i'll guess just for drag racing.

i'm a little confused. why did you decide to swap to an auto box? i'll guess just for drag racing. it is better for drag racing but also parts for the manual box are harder to get the auto box was the easiest way to keep the car on the road . it can still do corners with the auto plus its a full manual shift anyway so not much auto left of it now anyway ;D

Love the constant change and updates Mark, even though a lot of it clearly is a PITA

cleaned up the engine bay of the van and then took it for a test drive to check the new gearbox was working as it should happy to report all 3 gears from the manually shifted C4 auto box all engaging very nicely ;D

What's it like to drive with the manual shift? Does it change pretty rapidly? I only ask because I've never driven an uprated automatic gearbox so really have no idea what it's like

I only ask because I've never driven an uprated automatic gearbox so really have no idea what it's like its a lot sharper and more positive in the gears when you use it manually the high stall convertor takes a bit of getting used to as the revs will be higher at low speed due to it not fully engaging drive and it you drive it in drive it will be in 3rd by about 10 feet forwards ;D but again if you nail it in drive it will run harder through the gear with a much sharper harder shift

I don't understand what a high stall converter is but I understand 11's on the road - awesome!
Epic determination to carry on through all the engine troubles and a great result!

I don't understand what a high stall converter is but I understand 11's on the road - awesome! Epic determination to carry on through all the engine troubles and a great result! stall speed is just the point where full drive is attained . on a high stall torque convertor that stall speed is set at a higher point to allow the engines rpm higher before full drive is made essential for when running big cams in a race car as the stall speed would be matched to the point where the cam makes its power . the cam in my van makes its power from around 3000rpm so with a stall speed of 3400rpm i can launch the car off the line well into the cams power range meaning faster times as i don't have to wait for the revs to climb before the power range

made up a new gearbox crossmember for the van today as the old one from the manual had made the box fit at a weird angle with the tail pointing upwards and putting the prop at an awkward angle plus due to the mounting point being further forward on the C4 it didn't line up with its mounting holes properly and fowled on the exhaust . and fitted plenty of clearance on the exhaust now and the prop fits better i also fitted the trans cooler pipes are a little tight getting them in and past the exhaust but they are in and it works as it should not all great news i'm afraid though i gave the car a test drive took it a little further than just up the road by the workshop and the noise i was getting with the tremec TKO in 4th and 5th is still there which in a way is a good thing as it confirms what i thought and means the new owner of the box is getting a total bargain as there is nothing wrong with it  down side is now i have to rebuild the rear axle  :? i also dug this out to go back on seems a shame to have to repaint it though

darn- awesomeness in a stunning colour and engine combo. You gotta be proud as punch Mark - this really is top notch work. Again - said before so many times - but the speed you turn out such high quality motors sickens me I take it this will be at the gathering... going up the hill? John
