Another trip to the workshop, didn't get any work done. Finally got some space for my tools and parts, so I set up my shelves and emptied all the tat out of my car. Got a funky retro headrest off Stuyizz And I fitted an old mini gearknob after drilling and tapping it. Much better than the ford one it came with

Well to get the ball rolling again you have to start somewhere, and cosmetic bits and bobs always give that instant visual mojo boost so hopefully you'll have some time spare to get more done on the old Avenger now. Looking forward to it.

Glad I am not the only one living in Chaos. My garage at the new house is just a series of boxes and bags of tools. Till the inside of the house is sorted.

Lookas, the last owner had the floors done, just needs a jacking point. Grizz, I can't believe how longs it's taken me to sort this stuff out. Nice to have it done

Finally got a sunday off work, so I decided to go to the workshop. On my way there, I spotted an MGB roadster with it's bonnet up so I stopped to see if I could help. Turned out to be a sticky flat valve on the SU's, but oddly it was stuck closed instead of open. Got to the workshop with most of my enthusiasm gone, so I thought I'd potter about and fit the mountney steering wheel boss with my period Astrali steering wheel. Complete deflation of mojo when it turns out that the boss doesn't fit the car, looks like it's for a later avenger or maybe a sunbeam. After that, gave Stuyizz a hand with one of his cars, getting the head off, which was fun. After that, I had a stab at making the front wing fit a bit better, and decided that the underseal/tar/sludge needed to be chipped off.

Helping a fellow motorist = good!
Mojo vanishing = bad!
You've got an old car on slot mags, how is your mojo gone? Consider this a poke at your mojo, I want to see you do more stuff with this one.

All in good time. I was just a bit miffed at the Steering wheel boss not fitting. Just remembered, I took the manky old exhaust off too, so it's not like I didn't do anything. A panel and inner wing look pretty good for a car that will be 40 next year

Just read this from start to finish, great work with the dreaded rot!
Looks fantastic on slot mags, such a good look! Period perfect!
Looks like it's coming along nicely, is there much more to do rust-wise?

In short, yes, lol New front panel and crossmember, new door skin once I've repaired the frame. New headlamp panel (if I can find one), new lower rear corner (if I can find one), newjacking point, repair strut top, repair top rail where the passenger side front wing bolts on, de grotting and underseal and a bunch of other stuff

Well. I started taking the drivers side wing off so I could make a template of the headlamp panel, and while I was there I spotted some grot. A tap with a hammer later and this appeared Mmmmmmm, structural So, my mojo having a serious kick in the groin, I decided some grinder therapy was needed. So I started hacking at the rotten front panel. Grotty "inkwell" panel Some of the mank I chopped out and the rags that had been shoved in the holes by the previous owner. Nice one genius

The horrible part of the job this, cutting all the grot off... but it's only metal (rust?) so it can at least all be replaced and made awesome.

Yeah, already got the front valence and the "inkwell" panel can be got easily (but sadly not cheaply) all I need to do now is find a good headlamp panel.
