RR'r'r's!
Owing to my incredible fertility, Mrs P.Weasel and I are expecting another Poglet to join our brood later in the year (or early next!). Which presents us with some interesting Automotive problems (ha! ON-topic).
The predicament is this: 'Er Indoors currently has a very lovely (if a bit boring) Focus TDi Estate, GR8 4 famblies you'd have thought. But a 'trial run' reveals a deficit of space... it is physically impossible to fit on the rear bench the 'booster' seat for our 5 year old, a car-seat for our 2 year old and a baby 'rockatot' seat. Bumhats. This is particularly irksome as the Focus has three x 3-point belts in the back. Now, in most cases the new baby could go in the front seat in a rear-facing rockatot jobbie, but the Focus has a passenger airbag that can't be switched off (we asked the garage, they wouldn't do it). Buggrit.
So looks like we will have to get sommit else.
The Management has decreed that she would like a Picasso, because her sister has one. I would rather clap my tackle between two bricks than drive one of those odious machines.
(Yes, I realise if I had ACTUALLY done that a few months ago this situation would not have arisen )
SO, RETRO GUYS, BATTER ME UP WITH COOL DAD-RIDES!!!
Here's some stipulations:
1) Must have 3 proper seatbelts somewhere in the rear!
2) Must be able to accomodate 3 sprog seats in some combination
3) Must not be a Volvo (her rule!!)
4) Must be a manual g/box
5) No passenger airbag / turn-off-able pass. airbag
Preferences:
1) Wagon. Wagons are for winners.
2) LPG / Diesel / Easy on the jungle juice
3) Retro-chic / cool
4) Air-con (again not my stipulation!)
Potential budget is whatever I would have to yog on a Picasso, so if we said £3k top whack for something really nice?
I had my heart kind of set on an E34 TDS Wagon, but seems they do not fulfil the 'belts' rule. Here's a pic of a cool one to juice you up....
*Note: I suggested we simply put the E30 wagon on LPG and use that (baby in the front in that instance): this was frowned upon.
