Decided I needed a bike to ride to work on, something nice and old then I spotted this on ebay, 38quid later and its mine Its all original (and the sadle) apart from the gearset! Got it off and old guy who bought it new and used to cycle to brighton on it every weekend for a quick dip as he put it. I even found an advert for it I don't know what to do with it tbh, id like to recreate the stickers and get an original gearset for it and go restoration. Failing that might turn it into a fixie, not sure Opinions?

watching on on ebay I'm also watching a campagnolo 5speed gearset for it, its not the right one but is close enough and from the right time Just been offered a racing bike frame from the late 80's in bright yellow so I'm gonna get that and build a fixie with that one instead

I know a man who does stickers for old bikes. I'll see if he's got anything.

although I'd personally leave it as is (but replace the modern parts).
The worn look suits this bike so well. It really is in amazing condition. What a bargain!

Very classic retro. That rear guards looks a bit useless though for a bike to be used a lot, needs something a wee bit longer I'd have thought.
Love that a bike made 40 years ago is still doing what it was made to do!

did anyone ever find any new stickers for it? I'm buying another (newer) racer and would love to restore this one to original
Ive got the original chainset for it and a period saddle even tracked down some original tyres!

I've asked. What tubing is it? Looks like the remainder of a Reynolds 531 sticker on the forks. Can you tell me what it says and if there are any other Reynolds stickers? There are different types of 531. From wiki: # 531 - Managanese/Chromoly. UTS: 48 - 58 Tsi, 100 - 130 Ksi, 700 - 900 MPa * 531SC - Limited edition tubeset used by Trek in 1984 * 531C - Competition Racing tubeset * 531ST - Special Touring tubeset[3] * 531OS - Oversize tubeset I'd imagine its just the standard 531 but just in case. Also it appears to be the old style design. This style: www.wooljersey.com/gallery/d/191866-4/1966-02I'm fairly sure he'll have the Reynolds stickers at least but the Claud Butler stickers may be unlikely. If I can't get them then you can get them on ebay for about £7-8 before postage. You can get CB decals on ebay: tinyurl.com/5tb2rhBut they're not cheap (£20) and they're not the same as your ones. Still it comes with a headbadge decal which you won't use so you can always sell that on.

No joy I'm afraid. I was just coming here to recommend the lloyds cycles website. I was also told to recommend some guy on ebay who trades as 'Dizzybird' but I can't find his profile (I did find an ID with just 1 feedback I'm guessing thats someone else). Maybe you'll have more luck.

Very nice! Looks like a quality bike. As is the case with everything nowadays, there's a great forum for retro bikes which you may want to join - www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/

With a bocephus sticker on his 442, he'd light 'em up just for fun

Hey, really nice bike! I know very little about road/racing bike history but I've always liked the look of them and I rescued this lovely black 10-speeder from being chucked in a skip on Friday. It was in storage after being abandoned at a shopping centre and not claimed, I couldn't let it go to landfill. All I needed to fix it up was a new shift cable outer for the rear derailleur and a new tube for the rear tire. The top frame tube says "Meteor" and the bottom tube says "Super Elliot". 10 speed friction gears, side-pull brakes. Does anyone know anything about it or whether it is any good?

I got an old touring bike Well I got a couple. But the one I'm building up is a 1979 Dawes Galaxy. I got a Raleigh Clubmans ladies for spares. The second hand bike shop near my work charged me £10 per bike. The Dawes is in a rough condition, so will get resprayed and the tyres from the Raleigh, is on 27" tyres. It also needs a new Bottom Bracket. As its brinelled. All the cogs are in good shape. will cost about £20 to do up. maybe more if I can track down new transfers
