Is it Retro Car Club or Metro Car Club? Every second post or picture seems to be about Metros.

Is it Retro Car Club or Metro Car Club? Every second post or picture seems to be about Metros. That's what happens when you start a forum and tell all your mates in the club you belong to about it. Running a sucessful forum takes a huuuuuuuge amount of time and effort (doesn't it Mr H!). I doubt that one's going to fly

Running a sucessful forum takes a huuuuuuuge amount of time and effort (doesn't it Mr H!). I doubt that one's going to fly I think its in with a chance, people running it a certainly enthusiastic and friendly,.. but it does take a looooong time and hard work to get going. Even major magazine stories (Retro Cars, Practical Classics + others) doesn't garentee membership rise or quality of post count. When we started this place it started fairly diverse, which I think has been a good thing as its maintained that diversity throughout. So people coming as a mini or VW or Datsun or whatever fans tend to start to appreciate so many more types of car after they have been around a while Be interesting to see if there is enough of a community to support 2 forums, I don't see why not.

Hi, We just have a lot higher proportion of Austin Rover owners to anything else at the moment that should even out though. You’ve got to realise we've only been online 2 weeks. What's so tricky about posting pictures? You simply input the image address as you would on here. The only difference is that there is a custom window to do it in. As I said originally, is anybody going to be at the Retro Cars Show? Christian

Oh ok cool, well I'll come across and introduce myself.
Thanks HotWire for your support. I realise it will take a lot of time, effort and probably money to get this off of the ground but I'm very enthusiatic about the clubs future prospects.
Christian.

No worries, my advice is to find your niche. The thing that makes your forum unique. When I started this place it was filling a void. Now days there are a few more sites that overlap with what we do here, but each has their own thing going on... www.clubrwd.com , www.lowandwide.net , www.oldschool.co.nz Just find your thing and go for it ,.. I'm not sure what our thing is here... but whatever it is seems to be doing okay...

Thank you. In regards to Retro Cars, its not connected at all. I think however the RCC font is the same font used on the Retro Cars Show site. They must have used Photoshop too! I may cut down some of the Subforums but quite a few of them were requested when I built the board. Christian

I may cut down some of the Subforums but quite a few of them were requested when I built the board. It's better to build up than put all the forums in place to start with. With us Readers Rides is only a recent addition. But as we already had a bunch of members its filled up pretty quick!

Indeed. one of the key things here is the small number of forums, which forces everything to get mixed up. The VW guys come to do a VW post and see a Ford link and then post something there etc. Too many forums means that people get isolated.
A lesson learned for the CPUK forum. People said they wanted boards for all the different marques, 04, 03 etc but in the end everyone justs post in the general forum.

Yeah I suppose you're right there. People do always post in the General section. I'll have a think....

It will come on slowly.. Just need to add more variety at the moment as I sort of bought a small metro invasion with me when I came over.. ( apologies now if same happens on this forum) Every forum I go on there is always some overlapping of different forums, even in metroworld, there is PMC, metropower and torquemetro.. all started with pmc, then some split off to Metropower, then lastly Torquemetro.. Room enough in this world for variety..
