Whats the significance behind the web on the elbow tattoo? www.vanishingtattoo.com/tattoos_designs_symbols_spider_webs.htmAbout as good a summary as you'll get. By all means, if you still want them when you're eighteen, then get them. Just be prepared to explain to everyone that you're not really an oxblood-wearing, kerb-biting skin. I'm planning large, swastika-based tattoos...And I know I'll have to put up with my fair share of idiots and plebs. *n

Penski, great description, thanks. I haent asked hem yet so i don't know what they will say, but they were going to let me get a star tattoo on my fore arm so i should see this as to much of a problem. I have some one who can do it my tattoo for me aswell so i wont get ripped of with shop prices.

So let me get this straight..?.. you are 16 and want the spider web, a traditional symbol of having killed a man (a black person if you go for the real old skool meaning) because it looks cool. On top of that, you are having it done at someones house because you think shop prices are a rip-off.. not that they should tattoo you anyway as you are underage... Maybe you need a long hard think about it, maybe a couple of years, also give you time to save for some decent work in a decent tattooist.
I speak from experience, and having learned the hard way.

I'm 16 yes, yes I want the web because I like it, I'm not getting it as a sign that I have killed a black man, the tattoo will be getting done at my house and the bloke that will be doing it has around 15 years experience of tattooing so its not going to be some bodge job, the reason it will be cheaper is because his son is my best mate.

I've seen people with 20 years experience still tattoo complete and utter curse word. Years of experience is NO indication of an artists' ability. By contrast, the guy who did all this is only 22: *n

Bringing this thread back with mine. My first: My second, an Aztec sun: and my latest one: It reads; The sublime destroys the boundaries of infiniteness, yet this phenomenon is seen by the self not as an act of destruction but rather as a kind of elevation and liberation, for it is in the feeling of infinite it now discovers within itself that it may enjoy a new experience of its own boundlessness...

What's the barcode for? is it accurate enough to be able to scan yourself? ;D Only one pic from me for now because I don't have any reasonable ones of the others.. This is when it was all fresh and new (couple years ago) and taken at my grandmother's house (hence the cushion) Edit: As an aside, I really like Lionel Fahy's work at the moment ( el.fahy.free.fr/index2.html ) but I have the funniest feeling that I'd find it very tired and dated quite quickly which is why I've thus far resisted a trip across the channel to see him. I should probably stick with flowers. I like flowers. They're timeless.

Some great tats here guys!! Loving the riot scene!!
I'd love to get something old skool hot rod related( Flamed wrists or big Rat Fink style cartoon on me back.) but I'm skint enough as it is eh.
Probably start out small with a Mum heart on my upper arm,or maybe a Scottish flag. Just need to work up the guts!

I have a web on the back of my arm! I've not been to prison, I've not killed anyone, I'm not rascist... it's just a traditional tattoo now, all that negative meaning is in the past!

Just because its an old meaning doesn't mean it's a forgotten meaning. Not worth getting a good kicking because you've got a tatoo that causes offence.
An old guy who comes into my local has still got the webbed elbow with 3 flies in it and various other prison tattoos. He's a lovely bloke to talk to, but they were all earned, and he still wishes that he'd never had them.
