Here's my new project. It's a MK1 V.W. Polo. It's a bit rusty, but solid in all the right places. I can't wait to get my teeth into it.
It's on the original steels now, but that'll soon change.

Payed £500, I'm not sure if I've paid over the odds as it's hard to pin down exactly what these MK1s are worth.
Here's another pic...

Nice polo! Ours is identical to it ;D I saw it for sale over on Vzi and I reckon you got a good deal. Looking forward to seeing the progress with this. I took ours off the road this weekend for a freshen up, doing the rear arches, rear valance, front panel and a respray, and reconditioning the rims. What wheels are you planning? Here's ours when it looked respectable!

Sounds liek a barigin there mate, those wheels are worth a few hundred & its hard to find mk1 polos for under a few hundred unless spares

Yeah thats about right. Mk1's are worth the most out of all the early Polo's. I paid £300 for a scruffy but T&T'd Mk3 at the weekend and have sold a un-t&t'd Mk3 with some desirable parts for £500 in the past.

It's now back on it's original steels. Doesn't look so good now, but that'll change soon enough. It's amazing what a set of alloys can do for a car, eh?

so very true, still if i had been the previous owner i think i would have spent the money on fixing the car before messing around with expensive alloys. have you considered ditching the yellow and having it the same colour as your porsche and adding a set of these (in better condition though!): i know its a bit of a controversial idea, but i reckon it would look superb, sat next to the porsche

Umm, good idea, but I wanna get this Polo completed as quick as possible and beacuse there is so much painted metal inside the car changing the colour would be so much extra work.
I quite like the lemon yellow colour anyhow.
Both cars would never really be seen out together anyway.

I've converted them with some clear lenses that I got from Sweden. Not an easy job trying to get the original amber lenses out.
