Thanks for the nice comments, sorry to threadjack the original topic! You can get these almost anywhere in france, they are cheap and plentiful, plus comfier than the 2cv its based on. Spares are easy enough in the UK but french ebay and various french classic websites are full of bits for 'em.
the one in the pic cost me a grand, almost exactly as you see it (minus 8"+ suspension drop)
The saloon I recently bought cost me £250. they fetch between £150 to £3000 depending on how cheeky the owner is.
....back to slammed cars again now.....

since I lowered it my passat has proved to be too low for some petrol stations,multi-storey car parks, speed redtricted areas, town centres, the vets where my partner works and my niece's tennis club, but I've adapted my life style and I'm still rolling with a smile.

Helped a mate lower his Mk2 Escort in my farmyard workshop. Didn't give a thought to the fact the farm track had more bomb holes than Baghdad high street Took awhile to negotiate that and, well most of the exhaust made it to the end

Thanks! I shoock my spine out driving it today, Ill have to raise it at least an inch off the stops for driving useage, but if i take it to RR08, ill cut the stops down and run 20mm off the floor for the weekend. Its still a fair way off the ground in the pics.

simple answer, just don't lower your car so much that it aint practical to use. For once, I actually agree with you on something! I got this Merc 280 for free because it was undriveable... i lifted it up to replace the coils and the cut ones Fell out ;D ;D ;D

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.

hmm, I have a feelign this could have an influence on the next property I buy, given that I have about 12cm clearance at the frame and 8cm at the sump at the moment ;D

quality thread, i always respect those who's cars are low that they have to gently negotiate speed humps at and angle etc.

Love that first picture.
I lowered the Magnum and i needed to lever the car off the floor jack! My da does not think its nearly as cool as i do!!!
And i catch the GT6 everytime i go into the underground bunker carpark at work. Its worse if i have a passenger. You know that driving style where you're looking out for cats-eyes and manholes??Where you have to plan your journey around speed bumps??Where you have to turn around from roadworks and when you overtake you need to time it to go in between the white lines!!!

today i has caught the catalytic converter protection shield on a speep bump at tescos, and had to park on the edge of a shopping complex because my car wouldnt make it over the speed bump ;D time to get the cat removed, and replaced with a pipe, then replace it for the mot next year

My car isn't too low to go over speed humps. Speed humps are too high to go under my car. ;D I hit cat's eyes too, which is quite entertaining when overtaking or changing lanes.

I've never been able to get on my in-laws drive. Just as well they live 200 miles away really!
Once got beached on the way in to a cinema and my beloved other half had to get out and ask several drivers behind to back up so I could turn round and re-negotiate my way in to the car park ;D

-3" spindles on the oldsmobile made it unstearable ;D Too bad I didn't have a camera handy, although there should be some crappy mobile phone photos somewhere... cut coils in the front, lot's of people in the back ;D (also notice the corolla in the background)

(1st off, I have no decent pics of my car as normal) Here's my car, doing its thing, got the ride height spot on now (shorter shocks than the jamex would be good though), low all round, camber and tuck at the back, I catch the sump onto the verge, caught the exhaust onto a mates drive, take speedbumps carfully (the sump is within the 4 finger crew easy!), and the splitter is even lower if I stick it on, so I don't. I just leave it off! Result of a low sump guys and gals - you know its bad!
