Depends what mode your using. I'd use Av and select something like f/8.
As for the zoom changing the aperature this depends on the lens. My zoom lens will do f/3.5 at 35mm but can't hold it that wide to 350mm where it drops to f/5.6.
Some lenses can hold an aperature through out the whole zoom range but these are generally a lot more expensive.

Well, ive found how to do it, and the aperture goes up to something silly like f20 but ill go out and have a play today. Cheers for the tips. Give me an Olympus OM10 and i kill it....its these darned DSLRs I'm new to

So did your Mini!! I liked it, it's nice to see one modified differently from the usual bonnet stripes/minilites...and the interior looks superb. Glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Thanks we had good time, after the momentary panic as the Fiesta made a big puddle! Thank God it was just bubbling over... It's one of the longest journeys it's done while Lemming's had it so didn't know how well it would cope!
And I like the interior too, only real money I've spent on the car so I'm glad people like it!
Would be at the RR08 Gathering if it didn't clash with Mini In The Park >_<
