I reckon a slammed 405 Wagon would make a cracking (and different) alternative Hossegor surf wagon to something like a VW Pi55rat.... ;D

Yep I'm 100% sure some of the last of them had folding rear seats. I had one as a company car and had to fold the seats down to get Nobo boards in. When new it was an amazing car. all the sales reps had 2.0 Cavaliers and was all jealous of me in my Td 405

Has anybody had the misfortune to drive a naturally aspirated diesel one, or a 1.4? GR8 4 MASOCHISM I imagine

I had an H reg GRDT about 6 years ago - it replaced my Mk2 Golf GTi when that fell apart. It was a great car, I only sold it because we bought our 1st house and I could walk to work. Had 160k up it but ran like a dream and a lad in a Nova SR gave me what it owed me for it. He was from Cov actually, must've been like a homecoming!
Mate of mine's in the trade - if he sees a derv one, specially estates, he buys it because they've still got a following. Last one he had in he got a load of taxi drivers turn up in their 406's to worship it! His daily is an H reg GRDT saloon knocking on the door of 250k - it was his Dad's company motor from new, then his Mom's and now he's got it! Hardly ever misses a beat.
Just watch out - it may start an addiction. Based on that 405 I've since had 2 106 D's, a 306 DT, a ZX D, and now run a 206 Hdi as my daily! Before that 405 I wouldn't touch French, never mind Derv!

Hmm, had friends with a few Mi16s. Friend Dave had two Mi16x4s in a row. He destroyed both of them because he's a tool. First one he shot the wheelbearings to pieces by getting stuck in a width restrictor. I don't know how you get stuck in a 7" width restrictor, but there you go. Then it had a spate of starting problems....because he didn't have the battery terminals on all the way. He then had a stupid DTM exhaust butchered on to it (which was apparently a 'full stainless system' which went round the centre transfer box) which turned out to be a mild steel with a curse word backbox bashed on......which somehow cost him £700. The same exhaust centre ripped the fuel line out at the back by jacking the back end up too viciously and then claimed it wasn't their fault. He then sold the whole car for £300. Not the brightest, Dave. He then got hold of another with a really low mileage and knackered the transfer box and ran it for three days with no water in the radiator. Mate Scottish Andy has had loads, his GF currently runs a 1998cc iron block Mi16. I forget how many 4bes \ 2WDs he's had. Have a picture of the first 4be Dave had, before he killed it. DVLA say it's off the road. Probably in bits now......

Had about five of them over the years and they're typical Peugeots imho. They can be either brilliant or bl00dy terrible. The petrol ones can make fantastic figures in the mpg stakes (had a 1.6 petrol that would average 45mpg) and the SRi models are a good mix of economy and reasonable performance. They don't like short journeys though and the oil soon becomes very milky due to this, which is often (wrongly) put down to head gasket problems. get a good one and you'll love it, get a bad one and you'll always regret it. I stopped bothering with them yonks back as the problems I had with them were getting beyond a joke.
