Been busy re-commisioning this. I bought it from Jonny69 at the start of the year and was planning on selling it as I didn't need it, but then the red car broke. When I bought it After a good polish With the alloys off the red car on - its an inch higher than the red car was lol. Anyway I had some spare front struts/rear shockers and a set of -40mm springs. However -40mm isn't lowering, so I chopped a couple of coils off the fronts and a coil off the rears. Front done Dark pic but thats it all lowered. I want it down more but the shocks are out of travel so I need to find shorter replacements, maybe cinqucento or similar. I've done quite a couple of other mods too to make it more practical. I've modified the exhaust to use a Punto manifold and downpipe as I couldn't find an Uno manifold anywhere. I've also modified the bootlid by welding extra boot strut mounts onto the passenger side so I can use 2 struts. I've done a fair bit of bodywork too, the next time its sunny i've got to paint the roof and bonnet satin black. Matt

Finally got it through the MOT last week. Now the fun can begin with it hehe. I put a Mk2 Turbo Momo wheel on it, and i've started building the stereo system but its not finished so no pics. MOT'd and in a car park lol Anyway got bored today so had a play with the slotmags. If anybody sees any matching style 13x7s or 8s in either 4 x 3.75" or 4 x 4" P.C.D please let me know. I can't run adaptors as they'll push the wheels out too much. Anyway stuck the wheels on. They looked OK but not perfect. Too much poke. Anyway I sat there and had a think, and suddenly remembered I had a spare turbo bodykit. Bit of sellotape and it looks like this. Hopefully if I can find another pair of wheels I should be able to get them all bolted on. Just needs a silly exhaust then and it'll be done. Matt

If I get this new job tomorrow I should have some money to buy shorter shocks. Not sure if its got positive camber on the back, or whether the lowering induced negative on the front is making it look that way.

Put the wheels off my turbo on last night as they have bigger tyres. The 165/65s on the black wheels were OK with standard suspension, but now its lowered I can reach the limit of their grip very easily. The turbo wheels have 185/60s Falkens on and they grip loads more. A sad bit now. Put the turbo wheels on and I went for a hoon round a local industrial estate. Was going down one of the straights and 2 foxes ran across so I slowed down a bit. However one turned round and I hit it with the bumper and it went under the car. Turned round and it was lying there, still breathing but with lots of blood and guts everywhere. Decided to run over it again as it was obviously in a huge amount of pain and I didn't want it to suffer. Quite gutted really. Anyway pics with the turbo wheels Matt

Thats the plan. I had another pair matching but in 4x108 pattern. However the centre bore was also so big I couldn't re-drill the wheels, and the hubs aren't big enough to drill either.

those slot mags are brilliant, thought about running camber blocks to poke em inside the arch line a bit more (dunno whther that is possible or makes sense its been a long day...)
Shame about the bumper but i lol'd at running it over again!

...CHERRY BOMB!!! I was bored yesterday, and remembered that Dave (mk14dr) had given me a cherry bomb back box about a year ago. I thought I might aswell fit it cos its gotta sound better than with the stock pea shooter. Anyway I took it to bits. This is the stock rear section. The silencer box sits in front of the rear axle with that long tailpipe afterwards. First I had to modify the cherry bomb. Forgot to take before pics, but this is all the bits lined up. The tailpipe was miles too long it was sticking out of the car by about 6". The masking tape is a good way to cut straight lines in tube btw. Wrap it round without kinking it, making sure the ends meet, and you have a straight line to cut to. Shortened Welded I then chopped a bend out of this exhaust (German car geeks guess what its from)... ..and welded it onto the end to get it pointing the right way. I then needed to recreate a sliding section, so I found 2 pieces of tube that were a snug fit inside each other. I then cut slots in the larger tube to allow it to compress. This was then welded onto the bend. It is to allow me to remove the cherry bomb easily, as I will explain a bit further down. I then had to make the centre section meet the cherry bomb, removing the original silencer while I was at it. I chopped the silencer off, then put the centre section back on the car. I then put the piece of pipe into the slip joint on the cherry bomb and held it in position. I could then mark out where to cut the centre section. I had to move the last 90 degree bend near the silencer 5" towards the centre of the car. I did this and offered it up again, then marked the position of the new pipe between the centre section and slip joint. I had to reduce this in size so I cut a load of slots in the end, put it over the smaller pipe and hammer it together, then welded it up. Looks messy but works. However the pipe was just catching on a bit of the body, so I took the centre section off then pie cut the pipe and rewelded it to put a kink in it as can be seen here. You can also see the slip joint. The last thing to do was to sort a mount out for the cherry bomb. It didn't line up with the old one, so I cut another mount off an old exhaust and welded it in place. It needs a new rubber but seems to work well. And the finished product As I mentioned above I made the cherry bomb easily removeable. This is because I didn't know what it would sound like or about volume levels. Well it sounds great, but its way way too loud. I drove for 10 miles on the motorway yesterday and I had a headache. However what I can now do is find a different silencer and make it fit in the same place. I can then swap and change depending on my mood. Matt
