So.. well I found some images which make it worth starting this thread finally. Also I plan to do a bit more to it this year, so I might have something to actually talk about. I shall give you a brief pictorial history : The day after I took ownership Almost exactly a year later this happened Then a year later it looked like this : and now it looks like this : Plans? Well, Gurston Down is just down the road from me now. I plan to enter the Road Production Class, which has very limited modifications allowed. Then work up to Modified production class. That won't be till next year though. So it'll look like this for a little while longer, may even get the rear wheels properly spaced

Did you sort that bent wing? Not yet.. I'm checking regs for the different hillclimb series to see if I can run fibre glass wings... it doesn't look like I can do it in Road Production class.. so I'll probably try and get the dent pulled in the mean time. I need to find out about the suspension as well in Road Production, the bluebook says "Suspension in standard configuration"... wellllll.. the configuration is standard... the spring length isn't... need to find out if thats a problem.

So what are the things you need to change to get spec'ed up for Road Production class?
Any major changes required?
***EDIT
"2. Classes A1,A2, A3 and A4 must comply with the following:
a) ELIGIBILITY. Any Series Production Saloon or Sports Car, plus Limited Production Cars manuafactured before 01.01.1972. Exceptions are, irrespective of date of manufacture, Lotus 7 and all derivatives therefrom. All cars must be fully road legal, carry a valid tax disc and have a valid MOT certificate, where applicable. Cars must comply in all ways with the Road Traffic Acts and Construction & Use regulations. Cars must also conform to the MSA Vehicle Safety Regulations for Speed Events. The use of TRADE PLATES is prohibited. The ASWMC reserve the right to re-classify any car in the interests of maintaining parity within the category.
b) ENGINE. i) Where cars are, or have been, offered by the manufacturer with alternative body styles, e.g. sallon, coupe, roadster, GT etc. An engine offered for any manufacturer listed bodystyle is acceptable. ii) The engine MUST remain in the same position and orientation as that originally specified by the manufacturer iii) Cylinder block and cylinder head must have the same construction and material as the original engine, including alternatives as in i). iv) It must have the same number of cylinders as the original. v) It must have the same number of valves per cylinder and the same method of valve operation as the original. vi) All other components and modifications are without restriction. vii) Engine capacity may be increased by boring and/or stroking, but must always remain within the maximum for the class.
c) GEARBOX / FINAL DRIVE. The gearbox and differential casings must be as originally manufactured, and retained and fitted in their original positions. The ratios and other internals are free.
d) SUSPENSION. Suspension must be of the same type and method of operation as that offered by the manufacturer for the vehicle. Shock absorbers are free as to type, method of operation and position of location. The addition or change of anti-roll bar(s), anti-tramp bar(s) and stabilising bar(s) is allowed.
e) WHEELS. Wheel sizes are free but must all be of the same diameter, unless different diameters are fitted as standard by the manufacturer.
f) TYRES. Any radial ply tyre is allowed which is fully road legal and capable of acceptance by an Annual Dept of Transport Vehicle inspection (MOT Test). Tyres marked “Racing Purposes Only” or similar wording are not allowed. Cross Ply tyres are not allowed. There are no maximum tyre sizes. Cars with tyres offered as manufacturers standard or optional fitting, of wider section, of lower aspect ratio, may be eligible. The onus of proving eligibility to use such tyres is the responsibility of the competitor.
g) BODYWORK. The bodywork must conform to the manufacturers silhouette above the centre line of the wheels. The bodyshell and/or chassis must be of the same material as originally specified. No body panels may be replaced by panels constructed of a material different than originally specified, except engine and boot covers. No additional holes or powere bulges are permitted in these two items. Modifications to the floor pan and inner wheel arches are prohibited. Wheel arch extensions may be fitted but must not exceed 2 inches in width at any point, except where available as a factory option.
h) INTERIOR FIXTURES & FITTINGS. Removal of seats and interior trim (with the exception of carpets/floor mats), is prohibited. Front seats may be replaced by fully trimmed "competition" seats. Rear seats must remain as original and be fitted. Windscreen may be replaced by one constructed of laminated glass. The construction material of all other windows may not be changed and the opening mechanism, as specified by the manufacturer, must remain fitted and be operable. Internal safety roll-over bar(s) may be fitted, but no suspension loads may be fed into them."

I would say this:
d) SUSPENSION. Suspension must be of the same type and method of operation as that offered by the manufacturer for the vehicle. Shock absorbers are free as to type, method of operation and position of location. The addition or change of anti-roll bar(s), anti-tramp bar(s) and stabilising bar(s) is allowed.
Means its okay lowered.....you're still running coilovers...just with short coils LOL

I'll update with some newer pictures (although I don't personally have any, need to get them from other people, if you've got some, post em up )... In the mean time : Since this thread was last updated the car has gone lower at the front and back, as was planned, got some new wheels, and started making a horrible knocking noise when it goes over bumps (suspect damper is on the way out). This car has meandered along for a long time with me changing direction constantly (but not commiting or doing anything about a given direction) and really needed something to make me do something. Well that something has arrived, on 7th of July I shall be driving the car from London to Sète for the Worldwide festival. I shall be doing this with my wife. To that end I have the following to do : Must Do : Electric Fan, instead of the current crank mounted one for cooling Front Coil Over Suspension, for comfort (and lowness) Rear Spacers, because the back end needs to look fresh Arch rolling/pulling, so I can put swanky new wheels on full time Optional : Twin Webers + Manifold, yes I know I should use the bike carbs I've got but it never seems to come together. Brakes upgrade (might be possible as part of front suspension mods) 5 speed box, because poor quality wobbly children's play ponys have to defecate at some point. Ideally I'd get all this done before 25th May so I can take it for a spin around Brands Hatch on the Retro Cars Magazine track day. Right now the car is in Bristol without a cylinder head fitted, I'm in London. I might be able to pick it up on Easter Monday, but I am busy for every weekend (and most of the weeks) in April... so it could be fun. Shopping list (if you have any of these things PM me, I want them) Electric Fan (need to work out the size) 280ZX front struts Webers *2 (will take Dellortos ) 20mm (maybe 25mm) bolt on spacers in 4x114.3 Weber to Datsun A-series manifold (you never know someone may have one) 5 Speed Sunny gearbox Oh and I also need to sort the rust on the bottom of the door and the front drivers side wing... and get it resprayed. ... then there is the rear suspension... and the SR20DET conversion... and the rear axle.... and the roll cage.... but right now, getting to Sète in one piece is the main aim
