Just a quick one tonight, will post more pics/info/plans etc after work tomorrow.. As found: As collected: As slapped back together; before: After: And now, importantly, as slammed: Picked up a few bits at last weeks 2cv national meeting in France (gay pink 5euro wings FTW!): Pretty much planning on leaving it alone bodywise, apart from adding the gay pink wing, gonna start ripping a late 2cv 602cc engine apart this week, make a nicely detailed heavily polished and painted engine bay, maybe a half cage in the back and a nice pair of kirkey ally seats on which to park my skinny white ass.

Is it just me, or does the Ami look like it was hit with a shovel in the bonnet, lol.

Someone's doing one! Hurrah! The 6 has always been in my 'I'll-do-one-of-them-one-day' cars. Quite rare beasties now, even in France.
Will watch this develop with interest!

Very nice - some say ugly but I've always liked these. There are only around 4 of these running in the UK! Get the 1220 engine chucked in there!!

Well thanks for the posetive responses guys!
having spoken to the ami register for the Uk, we reckon a good estimate for numbers would be around 30-60 in the uk, in both saloon and estate variants, but its hard to tell as the register isnt really up to date, In france, these are no more or less common than something like a moggy over here, the brits never took to the bizarre styling and its estimated only three survive in RHD, with I understand, only one in the UK? I'm sure Ian Dollywobbler will correct me on that. Also, a strange fact about these is that the saloon was outsold by the estate approx 5-1, which is a curoius thing as most cars its closer to the other way round..
I'm really after the full set, a saloon, an estate and a van, the first 2 are easy, I barely had to try before I found them, but the vans...
Both myself and the Amireg have only ever seen one, and I think it was the same one, none exist in the Uk at the moment, although I'm quite keen to change that, if I do, rest assured itll be hit with the slamming stick very hard!
as for ugly, well, I guess its subjective and all about personal taste, but an interesting point is that Bertoni, the designer, also responsible for the Citroen DS (a car commonly called the most beautiful car ever designed etc etc) said that the Ami6 was his personal favourite design.
Enough for now, Id best get my buns out in the garage and start slapping it together!

Wow! My dad's second ever car was a white Ami 8 estate with red velour seats. It was not too keen on the british climate as I remember

Bit more done tonight, fitted up front panel with the bits I've found laying around in the car... Then polished the inside of it, for that nice shiney underbonnet appearance... (trial) Fitted it to car... ratlook-tastic!

This is just one of those cars with the indefinable 'it' factor. It's just got 'it', whatever 'it' is, in spades. Love it.

<anorak mode> I believe that there are two RHD Amis in the UK still. </anorak mode>
Planning to have it ready for Registers Day Russ?

No, I was planning on taking the estate (if I ever get it finished) on the offchance I win again, promoting it to masterclass!
This wont happen for 2 reasons: 1; Ill never bother finishing it in time and 2; Its faded and a fair bit ropier than last year.
Id love to have the saloon finished by then, but I havn't a hope in hell of that.
Ill most likely end up slumming it in the ultra common 2cv.
