Well, I've finally got myself a new long term project and here it is - project FTW! It's an '82 1300GT and I'm made up with it. Not a really popular car but that makes it all the better for me. There's loads to do - first thing is to get it running. Engine's turning freely but I'm thinking there's a fuel issue - it's not pulling through at the moment. Monday is going to be trial and error day - wish me luck. Loads more photo's to come but in the meantime here's some of the bits I like... Quality brightwork? Check RS2000 apeing interior?Check Italian provenance?Check Sporty touches?Check Serious powerplant? Erm... ;D And here's a bit I don't like: Dodgy rear arch? Check To be fair, the other three are OK - I thought there'd be horrors under the kit but it's pretty solid. Needs a little plate on the sills (and it's certainly had a few before!). Paintwork is full of grime and a little restorative work on a panel this afternoon cleaned it up loads but even new, I don't think the colour would have done it for me. Dunno where I'm going to go with that yet. Anyway, more to come as I get into it. Cheers, Nick

I still have fond memories of my Fiat 127 Palio - such a nice car to drive and it handled nicely too - till "she" put it in a ditch and wrote it off!!!

Fantastic. Unpopular stuff is very much FTW! Saw ONE 127 during the whole of last year. It was metallic brown though so well worth waiting for!

Cheers boys. *Matt - I called your man but managed to get it shifted super cheap by a Wakey cowboy and budgetry constraints are v. much the order of the day at the mo! Your welcome to call round for a deckko mate - drop me a PM. *Dollywobbler - the bloke who I bought this off has another metallic gold/ brown Pallio which is going on the bay of E this weekend. Looks a bit far gone though tbh. *Ahebron - orange is cool on anything. Mine's never gonna look like one of those pristine show stoppers though so I'll probably go somewhere else with it. At the moment I like white for it.

Nice purchasing, looks a cracking buy and none too rusty for a Fiat too. Can't wait to see how she turns out....... You drooling over a planned bergrennen replica yet?

As many on here know, I'm into Fiat 130, 131, 132 and Argenta cars, however, it is good to see a 127 been saved. The earlier Sport appears to be more sought after, but there is nothing wrong with a good 127 GT! Do I see another 127 in the background?

Hi Miafioriman. Yep - the other one in the photo is a bronze Pallio that's on the bay as we speak, I think. It was a bit too far gone for me to be interested though - although the interior was really nice. The bloke is selling all his toys (127s x 4!).
The earlier sports are lovely but I made the right choice for me. I've seen lots of sports, all either orange or black. I'm hoping this one might turn out a bit different as I get into it. And I've never seen another on the road.
As I was saying to Stuey (126), if you've got any tips for good parts suppliers I'd really appreciate them. 127 MkIII spares are really thin on the ground in the usual places. ATB Nick

Parts for any old Fiat are hard to find, many dealers were made to scrap their dead stock by Fiat in the 80's/90's. Try finding any Fiat 130 or Argenta panels! There is a guy in Ireland with some new doors available I believe. Put a wanted post on www.fiatmotorclubgb.com and keep a look out on ebay, in classic car weekly etc as sometimes you get lucky. If you come up with any 130, 131, 132 or Argenta parts, I'm your man!

Worked for ages on the car this afternoon but I dunno how further forward I am. In attempting to get the car running I've found that there's no petrol getting to the carb so I was wondering if the fuel pump had siezed. What a git of a job getting it off. It's not bolted to the timing cover like most 127s - it's attached to the block in the most inaccessible place you could possibly put it, under the alternator. So off with the heater unit & dizzy cap to try and get a spanner in there: You can see one of the mounting bolts poking out there: Anyway, and hour of sweating and swearing got it off, although I'd got to dismantle it first: It had a lot of oily sludge in and the piston seems really stiff... but i've cleaned it up. Next job is to see if I can manually pump fuel with it. I also had a look at the carb - it's a Weber but I couldn't find any serial number on it at all Just says "Made in Bologna, Italia" on the side. I thought Weber was English! It had a two inch pice of petrol hose with a screw in one end... ... attached to this nozzle: Normal? Looks v. homemade! If anyone can clue me up on this (and the carb serial number) I'd appreciate it. Other things I learnt today while working. 1) I've got a front anti-roll bar 2) I've got a groovy metal, Italian after-market air filter: 3) This is my favourite angle: 4) The guy who owned the car a couple of years ago sent me some picks of how it was looking then - INSPIRATIONAL!!
