Yeah I know - I saw the Nankangs on mytyres the other day. I just don't have any money that I can openly spend, certainly not £30+ quid a month for 4 months. A few stickers, keyrings and the very occasional T-shirt just isn't netting me anything like that amount. What with the occasional silliness - like the 6.5" wellers resting at Seth's and the pair of 145/65's ending this evening I'm my own worse enemy as well.
The MO5's were bought cheap with a view to giving a light refurb and moving on to put some money into the house. But it would be nice to get them on for a bit. I'd relly like to paint them gold (hammerite gold - because I already have a tin of brush on for the insides and spray for the fronts). But white or black is probably more sensible if I'm going to sell them shortly and it probably makes more sense not to bother putting tyres on them.
And would 145/65's look really bad on them anyway? (145/65's particuarly because I want then to look how 165's look on a 7).

My gun gum has gone solid. Which is an because the car is up on axle stands without a back box. The shonkey straight through box I made a while back has finally rusted out internally and has be making an awful rattling for a couple of weeks. Today I finally got round to getting the near new box off of the old LX to swap it on. Both boxes came off without argument - copper slip is the business - then the re-fitting ground to a halt at 8:30pm. Never mind I'll have it sorted tomorrow. I've also been playing with a stripe idea I've had for a while. It's only black electrical tape at the mo, just to try out how it would look. When I draw up a plot path for them propperly I'll put some text in to sit at the front of the door. I'm currently torn between MICRA and C.G.10. I think the latter is going to get it.

I'm liking the stripe idea, reminds me of a Mini 1275GT stripe. Mabie get 'Micra 1.0S' written in it in the same style? And slightly lower so that it almost lines up with the bottom of the door.

It's a long time love of 1275GT and FORD/GT350 style sill stripes that were the inspiration. I would have gone lower - ideally with the center of the stripe in line with the wheel centres - but the bottom of the door doesn't line up wit the sill, there's quirte a heavy fold in the bottom of the door that might make it a bit fussy (or it might hide it competely). One of the chaps over on the MSC has put this togather... How much do I now want a set of A3A's! But with the black and gold decals of an R31 Turbo,

thats an R30 i think i prefer the black bumper styling overall. cept the grill, that needs the second lower vent, like the iron mask. i'd still be looking at modifying the headlight's. see what they look like narrowed down a bit. but might lose it's cutesie look and look pants.

I like the black bumper job, it takes it back to when yours had black bumpers, but the shape of the super s bumpers makes it look different, but right. Mabie keep the very top of the bumpers red down to the line that runs just on top of the number plate, with the 1275GT style stripes. Those wheels look ace, so mabie colour coded centres on the right wheels is the way to go? don't do the grill tho, try painting the bars black in the one youve got, or removing them?

That grill needs to be done even if the rest isn't, that is ridiculous cool and looks exactly like something one of the tuning or styling companies in Japan would come up with.

the stripe screams GT3RS to me, I believe someone posted a few japanese porsche styled k11's in the 'love for' thread and they rocked!!! seconded on the grille, wasnt keen on asymmetrical kits back in the '90s (anyone remember the DELTA kits for escorts etc) just looks odd!!! stripe is win though! ***edit*** this is the one i was thinking of!

I have really enjoyed reading this thread. Such a shame about the old one but I like how the red one has evolved too. I Loved the mirrors on the old one too! I am a big fan of black steel wheels an pov spec bumpers. Keep up the great work - it is more inspiring to see what can be done on a budget than what can be done by throwing money at stuff imho. Loving it!

Great thread - really like your car and the stripe Idea is definitely a good plan. If you want to properly emulate the Ford GT/Mini 1275GT stripes, the typeface you need is called Eurostile (that's not a mis-spell) Bold Extended. You can pull down a free version here: www.newfonts.net/index.php?pa=show_font&id=315 I'm a graphics guy by trade and I often see decals on cars in the wrong font and it makes me quite sad!

So all the thanks to Robin, who did me a great deal on them and VIP who got them to TAB for me. Tyres'll get swapped over sometime this week, and I'll like my car a bit more again.

I still reckon welding the triangle holes up, then drilling holes round the edge of the centre and putting nuts bolts in is the way to go, cheap SSR reps.
