I couldnt resist the urge to post, and looking through my pictures has cheered me up on a monday morning! Pinning a berm in the alps The aftermath of too much "berm pinning" resulting in a large but casual detour. An annoying picture that looks lame, but this was the first attempt at jumping a HUGE root section (20ft+) that by the end of the day had claimed a frame and two rear wheels! (thankfully not for me!)... If only the picture did it justice! (for anyone intrigued, it is the large root section on the upper half of "mt Chery" in Les gets, jumping into the woods roughly 1/2 way from the top (the literal top) of the mountain) Lake jumping (me) Lake jumping - EPIC lake jumping attempt, needless to say this did end in tears, but was by far the most photographic attempt! By the end of that evening we were jumping 40+ft in length and we "think" about 20ft up from the surface.... thanks to tow in's from a transit!

Metromartin - The bikes get hung on hooks outside.
Ghettoeddie - Awesome pics :-) I've never been bothered to walk to the top on the Mt Chery run, it looks like to much hard work! I also think you should be given a medal for your 'detour', simply for managing to end up so far off the track on such a straight section lol!

Geforce- cheers! The detour was quite a relaxed one tbh, no rush to get back on track! Also you don't need to walk to the top of mt chery (those pictures were taken in 2006, when you could get the normally "no bikes" lift to the top..) go to the top of the bike park lift and just traverse the hill.... you miss the fun berms at the very top, but it is great fun to ride down stuff that less people know about!. No pictures from this summer... i did 10 days of riding in 30days in france thanks to the rain! but in those times rode managed to spend 90% of my time on "secret" tracks... much more fun! Edd

Wow, awesome pics. I have a few very old ones of me from about 10 years ago...I had a Univega, a Coyote and a Mount Vision Pro which I specced up with shiney titanium bits and stuff.
Occasionally I borrow a bike from my brother or whoever and have a ride but it is so irritating not being able to do the stuff that I did before. Any gen on how long it takes to get back into the swing of things?

Was a yellow hardtail Coyote Ultralite...very light indeed (well for its time, don't know what bikes are like now) was not a very forgiving ride but pretty awesome on the twisty stuff.

Chicksands is quality, one of the best places in the UK I've ridden at. Very jealous of your France pics too guys I hope to get out there one day. I actually have no photos of me riding... 1) I'm not too good and don't do anything impressive 2) I'm more of a photographer than my biker friends!

Not a clue on this as none of those around me are remotely interested........ what would be a good downhill model to start with? I'm seriously into doing the mountain runs like pictured - just no clue what to look for. Would prefer advice - second hand great bike, what to look for etc...?
Awesome pic's all round. Need to sort a decent bike asap!

Need to sort a decent bike asap! If you havnt really ridden before i'd advise getting a long forked hardtail at first to get the feel of it - something like a DMR or an on-one 456, with Pike forks and a burly wheelset - you can then pickup a full sus frame and swap the parts over as and when you feel you want to - some people don't and prefer a hardtail, especially in the UK If you want to go straight for a Full sus...Theres loads and loads of options - specialized big hits are good VFM, but some are getting old now, and therefore battered. Kona Coilers and stinkys are good and widely available. Avoid anything too old and cheap - these frames get abused and theres lots of snapped examples. PM me if you want any more help
