Wow, had a supertuff back in the day and spent a whole day in the shed with one of my mums kitchen knives peeling the gold coating off the frame Check out the squash and stitch frame weld on the mk1! both mk1s i had broke there They're simplex mags on the mk1 aren't they? Rivets used to work loose and make it feel like the cones were loose! Mate had some simplex mags on his BH bmx that had drum brakes in the big recesses in the middle, only kid with mags that could do endos easily! Ah, those were the days.

I used to really covet the black/gold burner when I had my cheap unbranded BMX as a kid. One hell of a collection - do they get ridden? every single on gets ridden, I often go to work on them which get some funny looks (a 33 year old 6'2 tall bloke on a bmx.... whats wrong with that?) "ya bikes too small for ya"! ^ thats what i used to get riding to uni on a Dyno Compe! they were right, it was a bit small. I also had one of those unbranded (well it was branded, cant remember what) BMXs Christmas 1985, I was in heaven. yes it was heavy and had european brakes, but it was a 'BMX' it was tough, had pads and much better than a stinky raleigh chopper ot sad old race bike. the WIN 1985! So glad i did not even notice or care it wasnt the same as a Falcon pro, or Burner. one of the only toys i actually sold too! ;D

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Quick question.
What about the crank, were they sealed bearing cranks on these. I am just re-building a early M-Trax (not BMX cool of course) and these were not sealed, which is making the parts scouring quite hard.

BGT, could you not put any old bottom bracket on, take the frame to Halfrauds or your local friendly bike shop, the'll pop summat in for ya. or sling some new bearings in if thats all ya wanna do. HTH

na the bottom bracket for the old Trax is a different size, so the bike place said. I could pack it full of grease but it will only come back.
Edit:
As i am typing this I just had a call to say a NOS unit has been found, for £2 lol. None sealed unit (as I like them) excellent well chuffed now.

Thought you must do when I saw your pic of your Pro Burner with the plate on it. Are you local then, or could you be the chap in Wales with LOADS of them that he's told me about?

Right. Ebay.... retro... bmx... ;D haha! don't think for a minute its gonna be cheap for one of these, bmx has a huge following. the red basic burner was my first bmx bike in 1982. still ride 2-3 times per week at 33! if you want to see more retro bmx bikes, check www.radbmx.co.uk who have a bunch of threads from last weeks old school meet at milton keynes, now some of these bikes will make your eyes water with delight....

I had a few Burners. ;D First one I got was a night burner out of the skip in the next village. Had to walk home 5 miles as I was on my MTB. I stripped the plastic coating off it. Polished the chrome. Nice. Only Burner I have now is a scabby Night Burner frame. Its from Ebay. Got dents on it. Thinking of sanding the front of the frame and filling in the dents. Then those red orange and blue stipes on it. Like a Team Burner

I remember buying a Raliegh Pro Buner from an ad in the Loot about 5 years ago, apparntley it had been ridden twice from new but when the little rich kid got a puncture they stuck it in the shed for 15 years!!!!
It was like new, with all the pads intact. I paid £5 for it, I eventually sold it to a mate for £200 4 years ago, and he still has it to this day!
Wicked collection btw!
