A spare set of wheels for my Reliant Fox van have been taken from my front yard in Bradford. They all had good tyres on them and they were 12 inch. Along with them, an old 13" rim with a good but flat 155R13 on it, I think that was a Ford fitment, and a tatty looking but sound radiator from a Renault clio. I am convinced somebody has taken these as scrap metal rather than to use them, as I don't know of any other Reliant foxes around here.
I would appreciate any information on who is doing this, as this is not the first time metal things have gone missing from my yard, and even some dud car batteries have gone. Last time this happened they took rims that didnt have tyres on them, but this time the ones with tyres have gone.

Cant see scrap hunters wanting rims with tyres on- too much trouble removing and disposing of them.

Reliants are the same "puhkadah"* as Mini's aren't they? And don't most shonky old trailers use mini wheels?
* "Can you spell that for me?" "Yes. It's a P, a C, a D. puhkadah"

foxs have weird bedford wheels and they tend to rot; aparently they are such an offset that it is almost impossible to find a direct replacement that wont cause problems.

Yeah exactly. They are not useful for anything else that I know of. Being 12" and a different offset I don't think they are even any use for minis, even though PCD should be same. They are too big for Kitten/Robin. I have weller style wheels on the Fox at the moment, which I was told were a option from new, but 12" tyres are getting harder to find and more expensive so the fact I've lost 4 good ones there is quite annoying. Especially as they will almost certainly be cut off with a still saw so the rims can be weighed in.

It would cost more in cutting blade and petrol than they would get for the rims.

Hmm, good point Tim. But I do have a friend who regularly does just that with tyres. He uses dregs of petrol salvaged from the cars he scraps.

Yes but hes scrapping cars, he needs to dispose of the wheels somehow. Nobody in their right mind would steal wheels to simply scrap the rims, theres probably about £1 worth of steel in them.
