I've racked my brains and cannot think of a single reason why someone might want to steal that. Not one reason.

Especially with Pre 68 at Hedno only 3 weeks away. Looks like my Wolseley will be going on the track, but at least I own it!!!! I race myself, but if that's where this Riley ends up unwillingly then it's just wrong. I don't want to get into the ' all banger drivers are scum ' debate, 'cos I'll be racing at this meeting myself, I also know a few banger drivers who have had their classics nicked, so it isn't a closed shop. Hope this story doesn't end in tears.

Thing is hopefully we're getting an idea of how many are ending up on tracks.. shame if it happens, lets hope it doesn't. Keep an eye those that are at the meeting.
Paul: I guess the Riley owners club are aware?? (Is there a Riley owners club.... )

South coast? I don't want to get in trouble again, but I'm guessing that this one isn't another London-area VW theft. Les, make sure you get some pics of the race for us...have fun in the Wolseley!

Paul: I guess the Riley owners club are aware?? (Is there a Riley owners club.... ) There is a Riley club that caters for them but then it's more likely a Cambridge-Oxford club car (cater for all Farinas). CO-OC intentionally don't have a forum so can't post about it there. Is it worth mentioning on ovalchat or whatever that one's called?

Its already on wellbent.cjb.net, a great big picture too.
Rileys are pretty rare even for pre 68, theres usually only a couple raced. If its at pre 68 this year I'm sure theres a good chance it will be spotted.

these models are not just desirable to the banger boys but to mg restorers and racers coz the riley has the 1622 lump with the tacho drive at the nearside rear of the block handy to uprate your MG A from 1500 to 1622!

yes indeed,.. hopefully those people will be aware that one is missing because it is plastered on classic car forums as well. Could just be someone in the know grabbing the parts and selling them for an MGA conversion then making money off the shell for scrap value,.. guess we just keep our eye out and hope its gone somewhere that it can be found...

Thanks Rmad. At least when I end up on my roof I'll be able to climb out of the floor! ;D Wouldn't bother with the Riley club for help. When I had my 4/72 (which for the info of banger haters has had a full resto and is alive and well in Scotland), I got snubbed by them at shows 'cos it isn't a "proper Riley". CO-OC is the way to go.
