Not sure if you guys areinterested in such a car but I'll post some piccies anyhoooo! I bought this on Ebay for £102 Then I bought this Alfa 164 for £50(ish!) And stuck the engine onto this Ford Type 9. And plopped it into the Plastic car. And here is the car on it's first outing. Well, the first time it was driven. It's somewhere in the middle of the clip and the first attempt ended in a bust throttle cable. The very last run ended in a smashed diff. One of the runs ended in a field.....

That's fantastic! Those Alfa engines have THE best looking headers ever! (There's a joke in there somewhere about good looking Italian girls and giving head I'm sure...) What make of "plastic car" is it? Looks like a cross between a Lotus 7 kit and a beach buggy! ;D I like it! My kinda build! Great stuff

HahA ace I actually Lollo Lolled! You should win the challenge IMO for keeping the spirit very real .

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

I though that bell housing looked familiar(ppc wasn't it?), then i clocked your name, hello!
Retro Rides is a very broad church, just lower it and you'll fit right in! or raise it that also works...

That looks pretty woeful, like something Raymanboy would build. Still, it has sleeper skillz with that Alfa V6 in there!

Yeah this kind of contest isn't about the winners IMO, its about taking part, and if you can actually bring a dead fast car back from the grave, or make some mad machine, that's cool, as is taking part in something cooking and giving it some wellie! There's another 999 day in the summer it said in my PPC. 14June 2008 York dragway, see ya there

Crikey! Thanks for (most of) the comments!! There will be a bit of a do on the Friday night before the next PPC£999 Challenge. It's at York raceway and there will be beer and pies and everything!
I have no idea what the wheels are. Some guy over on Locost Builders got all excited when he saw them but I have forgotten what he told me they were. They are things to hold the tyres near the car as far as I'm concerned.

I'm hoping the seven spokes will clean up with a sprinkle of paint and look the dogs danglies. The pepperpots will live on the Magenta Pick-up.

Here's one of the the crusty old wheels. They're in pretty good nick when they are clean but I don't do clean....
