Hi all, newbie here and first post so hope the pictures, etc work. heres my toy, opinions good and bad welcome This how she was when I bought her <a its a tad low so this what I need to do to get a jack under it Bodywork is solid but paint work was knackered so as a cheap quick fix it was time to break out the matt black Then new roof and fog lights added more pictures after the spray job, first time i've done it so really pleased with the results I'm still not sure on whether I prefer the clear indicators yet, Then a neighbour who I let use a bit of land at the side of my garage for free, orders the wrong spolier for his octavia RS so gives me this and finally one with my mates metro Its a budget build and running project so not sure whats next, at the moment i'm concentrating on the little niggles a 24 year old car has so nothing major in the pipeline, its the first retro (dare I say modern classic) i've had so just enjoying the highs and lows at the moment.

Its not on the road anymore, he did the exhaust himself and cut a hole in the floor and ran a length of flexi exhaust hose from the cat, up through the car, and to the back box. It wasnt what you'd call sealed so when he took it for the M.O.T the car was full of fumes, the tester took one look at the hole in the floor and a car full of fumes and told him to save £40 and not even put it through the test. He doesnt know whether to do it properly or scrap it and cut his losses.

Thats a proper slice of 80's! Rattlesnake kits are pretty rare (is it a rattlesnake?) Personally I like to see amber indicators on these, and i'm liking the round spots up front!

I don't think its a rattlesnake kit but it does look very similar, I saw another mk3 on e-bay a few weeks back with a full kit and the skirts were the same but cant remember the name of it.
I've been keeping an eye on your twin engine project, I love the mk3's and cant wait to see that finished.

No way was I expecting a matt Black makeover! It kinda works cant stop thinking about a 'roof chop' and detailed black clovers to go with it! Metro is MenKal

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Thats a nice cabby you got there, nice old skool bodykit, looks abit like the old Warrior kit but without the arch spats last time I saw one of those kits was on a GL in a scrappy years ago Wheels look a bit odd though, too bright, either need black painted RS 7 spokes or those wheel diamond cut with black centres imo Clear indicators do it for me, looks alot cleaner I was thinking about spraying the inside of the circles of the clover leaf part of the wheels black too to break it up a bit, I've seen it done before and looks good, they look bright and shiney cos it'd just been cleaned, i don't do it often so when the wheels get a bit grubby the contrast isnt as obvious. No way was I expecting a matt Black makeover! It kinda works cant stop thinking about a 'roof chop' and detailed black clovers to go with it! Metro is MenKal I only did it matt black as a quick fix until I could afford a proper respray but its really grown on me now so I might keep it like this. My mate who's metro it is has also got a 1985 mini project too so with it failing the M.O.T he doesnt know whether to give up on this or save it and put the lotus k series engine in it, he had a metro before with the vvc engine and that really shifted

Hey dibble. Nice cabby, I really like the look of it in matt black I'm suprised I aint seen you about, being from west yorks myself. I don't know, but I'm sure I recognise the backgrounds in your pics Anyway, are you going to try and make roads in for our little west yorks get together on the 6th? You'll get to rub sholders with some proper tat, and I can get some pics of your beast ..... please do, the more the merrier ;D D

I've got a few mates into their older stuff so they'll probably pop along too. I sometimes go up to westgate on a sunday but its all getting a bit Chavvy so don't go as much as I used to. Didnt some of you guys call in their after the last meet?, I seem to recall seeing some similar cars in the pictures up there the evening after the last meet. (p.s, thanks all for the comments and the welcome)

The escy looks nice - keep standard plates and indicators though FTW. Don't really like the spoiler (think it ruins the lines) but thats quite subjective.
The metro is horrid :-)

The metro is horrid :-) I agree on the plates, the next on the list is original style pressed metal plates, the little one was short term thing after the legal sized broke, I thought a little one was better than nothing until I got a new one. Rear window don't look right?? Yes, It was a 2nd hand but good condition roof that I put on and had never done anything like that before, its a problem with the straps that pull the roof frame and window to the correct postion when the roof goes back up to stop it sagging. Its one of those straight forward jobs that I always intend to get round to but either a mate needs a hand, or the call of pub is greater than doing minor jobs.

I athink it looked nicerin silver, but if the paint was shagged anyway... The silver was nice were it wasnt peeling or flatted down already, I'm in two minds about leaving it matt black, its replaced a 98 saxo vtr thats got starting and running problems so once thats sorted and sold the money will be going into this, I was thinking something loud like ST orange if i do change it.

Saxo's.. yuck. I had a 2000 one with 60k and more rust and problems than my '89 escort. Its got to the stage where theres so many problems that I've donated it to a school in Wisbech for delinquents for them to learn auto mechanics, and hopefully focus their energy on doing something constructive, rather than mugging old ladies. Was stuff I could probably have fixed, but was going to cost more in time and effort than it was worth.. especially for a Saxo But yeah, love the cab, I'm really liking it in matt black, not something I'd have expected to like, though.
