just joined the forum and was ask'd for some pics of my car so I guess this will be easyer.
Lets start from the begining after having the car on the road for a year I decided there was alot about it I was not happy with so started to strip it
and put it right well it got a little out of control and ended up a bare shell again.
first thing we done was to build a new cage my dad was tasked with this along with turreting the rear and changing the topmounts on the front suspension and a mounting for the fuel cell just fwd of the beam here is some pics of the work.
and for the front
as you can see with all the welding some paint was now needed so off to the local friedly body shop.
looks better on film than to the eye it was a cheap job its a track car not a show car
I then started to fit out the interia (if you can call it that)
fuel system first
then it was seats in and make a bracket for the hydraulic handbrake
[/quote]
got all the brake lines fitted inside the car aswell now :thumb:
decided to fit the steering column from a mk3 astra as when compared to a mk2 looks like a much better item without a silly little push in cap at the bottom that falls out lol while fitting the column I also put the dash in around the correct position to check that while seated I could see it ok I also moved the column down about an inch and moved it to the right to make it feel better for my seating position with low side mounted seats
ordered the rest of the bits to build the engine inc some new arp bolts.
first off it was time to clean the engine and gearbox and then pop some paint on there
it was then time to get on with some real work
first thing was to remove the crank (needed to take off the internal triger as using a external one )
once this was out I could go about fitting my new arp mains studs
and there they are all fitted
there is just something about a set of stud's fitted thats just ummmm
after such good work it would have been rude to have stopped so while I had the go I got the rest of the bottom end together
so the bottom end is now all torqued up got all the oil pump and seals ready to go on tomorrow
if I am lucky by the end of the week it will be in
and my new management turned up
so a happy boy at the moment
couple of pictures of the turbo this is the old manifold my new one is being made at the moment as I want the turbo to sit the other way around.
