Last time it ran you'd run it out of fuel, so it's not doing what mine did is it and showing fuel in the sight glass but not actually sucking? (or worse, curse word in the lines??)
I took the air filter off in the end and poured neat fuel down the carb until she sucked it from the tank.

It didn't run out of fuel as I thought , there was plenty in the tank just not sucking it up to the pump. Need another pump I think. I think I have a spare one in the garage but I'll check this weekend. One thing after another with it. Deciding on selling it is harder than I thought but getting it back on the road is harder still. Patience is running out and just wanna use the bloody thing now.

Well changed the fuel pump serviced the carb with new gaskets and jets and boom, started up first time . Exhaust has now decided to blow really bad so next job lol. Getting used to this now and going to strip it again and start again with it. Seems to be going ok now and not fighting back too much , possibly knew I was considering selling to buy a 100e to do. Had a guy randomly offer me 4K for it and through much thought told him no I'd rather finish it off instead of sombody else doing it. More to come with pics and possibly a video if I can.

THat news mad eme happy :-)
facebook question - stick a hose pipe up its bottom hose for half an hour. Then the heaters. then the rad. (iiirc club has refurbed rads now). Has the water pump been done recently? replace the pipes whilst you are there if any look even slightly damaged. Again club will have some. maybe even NOS. If its the block silted might be worth getting the engine out....Get it right 1st time you do not have to worry about it in future :-).

Well I flushed the rad and engine out and the brown curse word that came out was unbelievable, neighbors will love me for the brown water all down the road. Ran a hose through until all clear and left the water running for about 30 mins to shift it out. Hopfuly with fresh antifreeze and water it should now flow properly through all the engine radiator and heater matrix. Weber carb needs tuning so does any know the best way to do this or is it better to seek professional help on that one. Exhaust is an issue I need to address it keeps coming off its mount at the rear and blowing badly on the front joint. Maybe have to get a proper one sorted out.

don't use antifreeze et. mild dose of rad cleaner and run it for a while then flush it again with hte hosepipe. Then put anti freeze in. If it was really bad is the pump OK. take it off and have a look. Its only a gasket :-)

Ok ran it again today runs ok but still no flow of water. Rads is hot at top but not at bottom. I'll follow advice from you guys on here and drop the water pump off to see what's going on with it. Should be an easy job but who knows with this car lol. Need to sort a return spring for the throttle as it sticks open after full throttle and revs on. Just silly things to sort out now. Going to leave getting it mot'd till next year, wanna get it all sorted and there's no rush now so I'll just potter on with it slowly.

Ok wasn't the water pump and water is now flowing ok. Carb needs resetting as over fueling and smokes really bad which smells of petrol. Officially bored of this car now and it's getting tedious doing the same jobs over and over again. I do need to press on with it but once again it's beating me with every step. I need a massive mojo boost or just sell it on to sombody who will finish it off and use it like it needs to be.

This must be one of the most negative, attention seeking threads on here. As I said several pages ago, sell the Firenza to an enthusiast and buy yourself a modern...

Agreed. The lack of pics and now the regular bouts of whinge make this a boring thread.
I'm all for a chap sharing his ups and downs during a project and using the wider community for a boost when needed, but you're not giving us any visual shares of progress so now you've made this thread about you rather than your project.

Good comments guys and all taken in , I don't mean to moan but this car is a nitemare and fights, just want it sorted out for personal reasons. Sorry to come across as moaning about it but it's driving me mad. Every time I sort one thing somthing else happens and after 10 years of hassle with it , it's driving me mad. So after a kick in the ass on here about it I will not post negative updates but put up progress posts and pics up to show progress on the car and not myself.

No problem and sorry to be so harsh. The problems you are experiencing are normal when restoring an old car. We all go through it. What you have done so far is far in excess of what your average Joe could do and you should be proud of that.
The car is not 'fighting' you. How can it?
If you look at it a different way, you are gaining experience and knowledge so you will not make those mistakes next time.
The threads were things seem to go smoothly are the ones were the poster concentrates on their achievements. The problems are interesting and an important part of a build thread but we want to know how you solved them so we can do the same... 😋
Anyway....shouldn't you be in the garage?

I am in the garage with a fresh pair of eyes and mindset. Looking at the issues I have and breaking them down into easier ways of doing them. Thanks for the kick up the .

Yep, from any rational stand point classic cars are a nightmare but that's not what it's all about.
We live in a lovely modern detached house with gas central heating/NHBC 10 year warranty etc but my wife and I do enjoy watching grand designs/DIY SOS etc. However much we enjoy watching these home DIY programmes we'd never want an old house as we both hate doing DIY and having unexpected costs getting in the way of holiday funds etc. We simply would not enjoy a single second of any aspect of house renovation/decorating etc. On the other hand, nothing makes me happier than going into the garage and just fiddling around with an old car for 2 or 3 hours. I'm not focussed on the destination, I'm enjoying the journey!

These projects do have a habit of curse word you off but once you solve problems it's a great feeling. My 16v Mini project has been a constant source of trouble for the last 8 years or so but I keep going back to it.

Yeah agree I love doing the old cars up and have done for years but next one I do will be somthing a bit more common so I'm able to actually get parts for. The thing that has held me up is availability of parts for these cars. Finding somthing on eBay and the bids go mad for it as no one can find them. So as it stands I'm fully able to complete the build now. Saying that just opened the passenger door and the interior mirror fell off . Just made me laugh as to what's next.
