thanks for the comments... i need to get the brakes sorted, new calipers on order with work. new clutch cable, new timing belt and exhaust to do plus a little bit of body work to do. An annoying plate to do round the rear light on the side which I'm not sure how to do yet but I'm on it. my main worry was the arches and they look great now so no problems on the rest of the work. Ive got a 7 dial dash to fit aswell but that can wait till after. ill keep the pics coming tho.

ok ive got the exhaust sorted. i spent my lunch break at work hunting through the racks of exhausts for a middle and found one of a volve to fit the exsiting front pipe and a vw one for the rear box, sounded great with just the centre box. Had the calipers turn up, mk3 capri. they bolt straight on but need a little bit shaved off to allow the wheels to turn as they catch the wheel weights ever so slightly. Fitted the clutch cable and drove it out of the garage, first time in about 2 years lol Removed the twin gauge dash and replaced it with the 7 dial dash ive had since i was about 16. found a momo wheel boss off a nova that fits a treat and fitted my new momo wheel to it, looks good . Just want to fit some more comfortable seats now as the standard ones are a bit worn. so any suggestions or seat for sale let me know I'm looking for black sporty ones. ill keep the updates coming and i have some more photos aswell so ill post them asap

ok got the exhaust on with a bit of flexi pipe i got from work. souns good with the vw rear box but had to pack in as had my sons 3rd birthday party to go to. so my dad decided to tie the flexi up out of the back of the car, so it looks like a truck pipe sticking out the back. just need to cut the flexi to length and mount the exhaust and its away.or i could leave it and drive through really deep water ... pic on the way

RRRRRRRiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccccccchhhhhh!!!!! Yeah, those arches are looking good man. Good work on the exhaust mate. Get that puppy on the road. I like the idea of putting the dash in that you had since you were sixteen. A good little culmination of dreams! Keep at it mate. You going to RRG with it??

How did i miss this?! Like it a lot, saw 2 2.3 motors the other day in a barn but they were destined for Snoots. Bet they can be a bit of a handful if your not careful.

ok quick update on the firenza.. Fitted capri calipers to the front and made new brake pipes to suit everything went ok untill i put the wheels on and found the calipers touch the wheel weights on the wheels. so back off and had to grind the caliper a fraction to miss the weight, probably easier ways to do this but got p****d off with it. next is to find a repair kit for the master cylinder as i pressed the pedal and it lost all the fluid over the engine bay. plus it didnt help that my 3 year old wants to help me with the car now so i have to double check everything hes touched.. bless him.. ill post some pics of said calipers and other odds ive done since the weekend.. thanks for all the comments its making it worth all the hard work..

I've had the same issue with the master cylinder, I have to redo mine now too. Glad to see it coming along again, your brakes sound like the same setup as Coggers' Firenza if I remember correctly

did the capri calipers bolt straight on?

yes the calipers went straight on to the original fittings on the car. no problems at all. you thinking of the same set up then???

I might do the same in future myself, i spent a good while trying to find Magnum calipers (eventually got them off brakesinternational)

Capri/Cortina calipers work soooooo much better than the Vauxhall Viva/Magnum/Ventora equivalents.
Note that a brake bias valve is then somewhat useful...
Went through brakes hell with my Victor before finding that the Ford calipers bolt right in. Even managed to get a set of brake discs from my local motor factors, they're still making the things.

If anyone needs brakes for their vauxhalls or anyother cars pre75 i work in a motor factors and have a fair few contacts in the trade and could try to get hold of either parts or contact numbers for you. i use a place for older brake parts and they are resonably cheap so give me a pm if you need any thing and ill see if i can help anyone out

Both really awkward shapes to remake. I guess you do not have a shrinker/stretcher? This could be one for tonybmw to help on! Drop him a PM he is great at making panels.
