I've been reading a little on a Swedish track forum... And the people with a little knowledge there, rate the "lowering kits" available for various cars as mostly curse word, sure, for loads of money they may improve the looks a little, but they are often too soft... The best budget way to get a lower car seems to be to find some car that has springs with the spring rates you're looking for and the right diameter to fit, and then cut them to the needed length... But sure, it will take some research...

starting to get a bit warmer here, sourced a complete 560SL engine for less money than just an oil pan, that'll work any updates on your project?

Work has ground to a halt because of the weather (I'm working outside), but me and Alistair were just saying last weekend how it's almost warm enough to be out working on cars again, so work will be commencing soon!
I have the Bond's MOT next week which may or may not give me some work to do (fingers crossed it'll pass!) but me and my brother were talking about getting a load of steel, wire and gas together and just hitting the Benz and finishing all the bodywork off one day soon!
I can't believe you found a 560SL engine so cheap! Amazing. I would really like to use the 560, but I'll have to work with what I have for the time being. It should be enough to keep me grinning though!

it'll pass yeah, luckily the 5,5 liter is cheap as beans over here but the 5 liter euro really is no worse since we got the worst excuse for exhaust manifolds I have ever seen! I look forward to seeing your work once you start up again

new pics up on the picasa, just so you know the R107 560SL oil pan, oil filter housing and engine mount arms fit perfectly in the 240D. the log manifolds don't quite clear the raised sides, I'm interested to see how you'll end up dealing with that part, there is plenty of space for custom exhaust manifolds too I guess.

Hey Erik, I'll check out your new pics! I've not done anything on the car for a long while - a terrible winter has put things on the back-burner, but I'm really busy with work so it's not looking like I'll have a lot of time to spend on the car for a while, even with the weather getting milder. Glad the SL parts work, that's very promising! The manifolds are a problem, I'm planning to adapt tubular manifolds from a Rover V8 although even then, there is very little space!

something will work, that's all that matters hope your work lightens soon! remember, you have to finish yours before I finish mine haha when you get going again, if you need any specific pictures or measurements, let me know and I'll hook you up! the benz was lonely in the shop over the winter as I would imagine yours is too!

now, for figuring out how to get these exhaust studs off.
any progress on your benzo yet?

Come on Dean! I've just dragged this up from the depths in the hope it might give you a kick up the to get back outside and work on the Benz! Do you realise how long ago I had that engine off you? I hope you're not letting all the niggles of trying to shoehorn that v8 in get you down. It seems like you've reached a point where you've done all the straight forward stuff and any further progress is going to require some fabrication work. Don't be daunted mate, just think it through and have a bash - if you need any help just ask! Joe

Thanks Joe! Up until this week I've had to put most car stuff on hold. I've been cracking on sorting the Bond out, which isn't be far off now, so any more spanner time I get will be directed at the Benz! I really need this project progressing again, it makes me sad seeing it day after day not doing anything... I'll get on with it, promise! ;D

Stoke8v8 - I intended to put Megasquirt on my 450 V8 instead of the K-Jet. It'll make a big difference for sure!
Nathan - thanks for that mate, I'll grab 'em next time I see you!
Rysz - that would be great. Hopefully next month I'll have some more time. I'm trying to get the Bond sorted out but once that's back and roadworthy the Benz will be getting my full attention! I'll get Steve to come up and play too.
The Benz hasn't really stumped me, I've just had very little time at the moment. There's a load of work still to do but nothing particularly beyond me (apart from propshaft shortening and buying the driveshafts, which are a bit pricey!)
Thanks for all the encouragement though guys, I appreciate how many people want to see this project progress! ;D

I am off for a week in September with nothing to do between 9am and 3.30 so if that fits in with you, I am more than happy to get my hands dirty! Rysz.

Thanks! I've been busy with the Bond Equipe, but this car is going to be progressing soon, after more than a year of no progress!
