hey there!!
I'm fairly new to RR, totally addicted to it, i wish i had half the creativity and no how some of the people have on here!!!
A few mates of mine have their cars on here so after a bit of pursuation decided to do a bit bout my cars. nuffin retro I'm afraid but I'm hoping to change that soon! so here goes...
3 and a bit years ago i got my first car for passing my GCSEs well-ish,
a 1997 peugeot 106 1.1 zest 3 (everyone starts 2 hit the back arrow!)
(sorry only pic i have of it on my computer)
as I'm sure most will agree, you never love another car like your 1st one!! i thought it was the dogs, most its life was spent at the back of a maccas car park or southend,
i know its curse word but i loved it and spent far too much money on it, wheels, big exhaust, k&N filter, cam, i worked at halfauds so i managed 2 get a decent sound system sorted for next to nothing.. (not saying they're good on price, just half inched most of it!) and at one point he even sported a sunstrip! typical chav. ;D
but them mum and dad decided we didnt want 2 live in blighty anymore so about a year ago we moved 2 australia, the pug obv couldn't come with so after a change up at the bank and me feeling rather pleased with myself because all the money i had before had now doubled itself i purchased this...
my 1996 holden commodore, VS-S pack 3.8litre V6 5speed manual (which are quite hard 2 get hold of)
was a bit different from the pug, RWD for a start and 250 ponies
it had custom intakes off the SS (5.0litre) model, straight through exhaust which sounded the bees, it was lowered, had a camber kit on the rear, HSV bodykit (which i didnt reali like) and interior. only problem with it was the wheels were some reali nasty 15" jobbies becauce the the guy that sold it too me wanted to keep the chrome 18"s it had on it and gave me these and sold it a bit cheaper. the car was fun, i taught myself the art of sideways and burnouts in it. but, as it weight the same as the double garage it was kept in it was never really quick...
in australia the insurance is a bit of a laugh, baring in mind i had only been driving a year fully comp this was about 400notes a year!!! 3rd party f&f was only 70!!!
so i saved up and drove the commi for 8 months until i could buy this...
my 1993 nissan skyline R32 GTS-T
i had a mate who works for a guy who imports cars, now back in the uk i wouldnt have ever thought about importing but seems as were just a stones throw from japland i thought i would look into it.
i told the guy i wanted an R32 or 33 either white or grey, standardish- like only exhaust system and dish wheels. after a few weeks hes found this 1 for the costly sum and i kid you not of 378,000 jpy.... $3,780...... or 1,840 pound (sorry aussi keyboards don't have pound sign!)
but then you have importing fees and registration and complyance. so all up the guy quoted $9,300
39,0000kms on the clock, almost sure they're close to genuine as the service history says the timing belt was changed at 17,000 and it is mint, an interior you could eat your tea off, new tyres, all fluids had been changed, generally a minter!!
it also had got a few goodies i wasnt expecting aswell! bilstein coilovers, cusco front strutbrace, HKS filter and turbo timer, blitz super-sequential blow off vavle. custom ceramic intercooler piping, GReddy gauges, and in the service history was a bill from Office tuning in japan, couldnt read it as its all written in chow-bing but i think is where it may have have a tune or something because its only stock but runs 14psi and rapes everything tht pulls up at the lights (within reason, ofcorse) including my mates R33 running 18psi?!?!
anyways so i get the car onto the shores of adelaide and every car that comes into australia has to be registered and complied this is all included in the final price, this means every aftermarket or non standard part has to come off, no biggie, remove gauges, brace, wheels, turbo timer, BOV. (coilovers and filter are ok) BUT.. if you notice it the back end has a bit of a wide a*se problem, the rear arches are flaired GTR style fibre glass, molded onto the original bodywork.. not bolt on, so i had 2 pay 2 have these cut off, leaving this mess (its the best pic ive got sorry)
the front arches are similar, flaired fibre glass but these were bolt on arches so they were easy enough. it went through compliance 1st time, and then i had to pay $900 to have the rears put back on!!! wasnt happy. but well worth it, i think they look the part, ive neva seen another 1 like it as it is actually 2inches wider either side than a GTR!
insurance once again is a joke, 19yrs old now, got 1 speeding fine in the commy but still only pay 800spon a year fully comp!!!
saving for a trip back home to see the family atm so bit strapped for cash but as far as jobs tht need completing and shopping lists etc a front mount and R33 turbo are deffinately going to be on the way!
- wheels are going to get a refurb
- handbrake retrim
- maybe a new back box (the 6 1/2" on it now is a bit silly)
- heavy duty clutch
- R33 box
then just see what happens!! i know its not exactly retro but hey!
hope youve enjoyed reading!
