Hi, I recntly bought a mk1 capri. have had a couple of mk3's but always loved the look of the mk1 so when this one came up at very low price (due to condition) I couldnt resist buying it. well a short trip to the south coast and was all mine. well she needs a lot of work to get on the road and not long to do it. want it on the road for end of may so ready for a few shows next year. am currently scratchin my head about the v8 conversion, gettin there slowly but is takin alot more thought than was originally conceived. anyway it will fit as ppl have put bigger engines in. she has 3 litre front cross member, struts and rear axle (not yet fitted) rusted rear arches and not alot on the front. so perfect time to fit wide arches. love the lines of the mk1 so found kit that will keep the lines only make it a bit wider. colour wise think I will be returning her to original green, not sure on shade but is funky and retro. hope you like, I know she is alot rougher than your cars but give her time and she will get there. On way home Sat in garage next to my Dutton Phaeton S3 The rear (best looking bit at mo Engine sitting (now for modified sump etc) Engine not looking the cleanest yet but will look alot better with rebuild and a lick of paint. unleaded heads and strombergs to go on

I know a chap who has a Mk1 Capri sat on his drive, i believe it has the original 5 litre V8 under the bonnet and also has the original wide arch kit that was on the car when when it was new, i seem to recall him saying it was a 'BOSS' Capri, but i'm not sure. Parked behind the Capri is a Mk3 Cortina Estate 'SAVAGE'

If it has an 'original' 5 ltr V8 it must be a South African Perana.

As far as i'm aware it's been in the UK from new and he has loads of paperwork etc with the car. No amount of money will make him sell either car, i know people have tried to buy them with no success

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

well after convo with smith and deakin turns out the courier forgot to go there to pick up my package. wasnt looking good for having the arches on this weekend, luckily a call to parcelforce later and kit is now on route. should b here saturday, trial fitting on sunday. (have to load skip at spitsx's so he can move car about and generally play with it on the drive). should fly ahead with progress once kit is here. also never get metal in eye, had 4 hour wait at A+E for a doctor to poke a needle into my eye.

well i woke up this morning to a nice big box sitting outside from smith and deakin. thought the front wings would b a direct bolt on but turns out they are supposed to b molded onto the originals. ah well just means a bit more work but nothin that cant b sorted. all looks very wide so should look pretty cool once all bonded on. will post pics once i get going, just typical that they turn up and i have to fix a mates stupid polo. argh.
