What a sod, damaging the engine like that. Happened when I wrote my 309 GTI off, snapped the oil filter housing off which really added insult to injury. Glad to see it being repaired.
Just a quick one - I noptice you are running it on injection but the Nova is a carb variant. What did you do about the wiring and fuelling? Did you tap a return line into the normal carb pump?
If I remember rightly the wiring is easy enough for Vauxhall lumps though.

Although I didnt do the conversion the wiring is actually pretty simple. The cav engine has its own loom which is just wired into the novas, and the tank is a mpi tank from a nova gte so its a pretty straight forward conversion.
Is that an exclusive in your sig? Got a project page for it? One day I will own a manta hatch.
Todays work involved getting the engine running, pretty simple once I realised that it wouldnt run due to the throttle position sensor not being connected! lol It fired up easy enough but its running on 2 or 3 cylinders atm. Had a chat with a few people on various vauxhall sites and I think it realates to it being kept in a leaky garage, so going to get the dizzy cap off a give that a clean. Hopefully that should be all it as.

Quite a good start today, postman dropped off my latest purchases, Mintex brakes AFM and inlet pipe To replace these: Then wanted to know why the engine ran like curse word the other day, a few suggestions were either damp in the dizzy cap, which I don't have the right bit to remove, or a bad earth somewhere. So I checked the two earth from the injector plugs and one didnt look good so I cleaned it up and put them back and.. Success! It runs perfect once again.

I'm starting to get worried now, more than two updates in a week! lol
Today was mostly spent trying to sort out the rear mount, when we left it sunday we couldnt get the top bolt to line up then when we did the thread just wouldnt start, so had to take the whole thing off and start again.
Turns out the thread on the top bolt has had it so went out and got a new one. Sorted. Still a pig as now the mount is bolted to the box the rubber mount is still quite a way out. Needs the engine moving forwards a bit to get it to line up perfect, then the front mount will line up as well!

Cheers , theres definitely no "bad boy" or go faster bits on this one, I think I got of lightly with this one, I crashed my yellow sr a few years back into a tree. (I deserved that as I used to drive in everywhere flatout) But that one came out alot worse as the chassis legs folding in! Well, todays progress: It now drives!! Well chuffed, spent a while getting the rear box mount sorted but got there in the end, chucked the linkage on, set it up, only drove it back and forth a bit in the garage but all the gears are there so at least thats one less thing to worry about and there weren't damaged. The drivers side engine mount still seems a little bit out but not by alot but at least its nearly ready for the new front panel to go on. Just need to drill out the spot welds for the crossmember and it should be good to go. Well happy.

Todays effort: After listening to the advice of many people that a battery drill would be better for removing spot welds I gave up after spending ages on one of them and not really getting anywhere! Enter the hammer and chisel technique Didnt take long to do most of them but got defeated by the last 3 so given up for today, note the headlight panel partly attached, really cant see where the spot welds are on that side

Eventually got the hinges on, but... looks like the drivers side bracket is slightly bent as when the hinge is down its hitting the engine loom, where it wasnt before Passenger side was fine. Hopefully have that done tomorrow so I can cross it off the things to do list. Good luck to the next person that has to change hinges, its alot of fun.

Fitted the bumper yesterday whilst I tried re-pairing it but the glue I got was pretty much useless so ive left that for now. Not exactly important in the scheme of things. lol Sorted out the hinge, pretty simple stuff, just bent it back into the right position. Then decided to fit the bonnet (on my own) got it on the scuttle panel and used some string to hold it up in the air using the garage door, I bolted it into place and got it sitting straight, then trial fitted the wings which are actually a pretty good fit, gaps look pretty even so pretty chuffed with that. Now just gonna have an ask around to find someone that can beat the inner wings back into shape for me then it will be ready for the welding.

Yeah I'm pretty chuffed although the inner wings they're fitted to aren't straight! lol Just wanted to see how well they fit. I'm just waiting to hear back from a couple of people from png about the final repairs. If they can do it then it could be back on the road pretty soon, if not i'll have to keep asking around!

Well thanks to buzbi from png I now have something that looks like a car again! Just needs a polish and one wing needs a bit of rust sorting. Well chuffed to have found the panels in my colour. Just waiting to hear back from my mate about getting the inner wings sorted then its basically ready for the new front end to be welded on. Whos knows I might even make it to PVS this year

Well tbh its only about a days work so it COULD be on the road tomorrow if I had the money to take it to a bodyshop, spoke to my mate and he said he should be ok for next weekend to do the inner wings. Then its just a case of getting the new front panel/ crossmember welded on.
Hopefully have it done in time for performance vauxhall show and billing, but its just whenever I can get the help really.

My mate simon popped over earlier in the week and managed to get the inner wings fairly straight, theres still a kink near the headlight panel but now with the wings on they're nearly where they need to be so hopefully one more day on them and it'll be job done.
Just asking around about the welding now, the one guy who would do it has had his welder pack up so not sure when it will be done. Could be done for PV this year but I'm gonna say it wont, that way if it is I won't be dissapointed lol

Spent the best part of this afternoon trying to get the rest of the crossmember off, its pretty stubborn though but nearly done. The last couple have got really bad access so its going to be fun!
I'm itching to have it ready for billing.. but who knows
